We had the good fortune of connecting with Jarrett Ransom and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jarrett, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Ahhh…risks. I typically put the cart before the horse. So, yes, I would say that I am definitely a risk taker. Just the other day I was talking about how entrepreneurship offers a high risk – high reward lifestyle. It comes with a lot of ups and some downs. Thankfully I was raised by entrepreneur parents and witnessed first-hand what this lifestyle could provide. For me, my personal WHY is freedom, flexibility and travel. My entrepreneur lifestyle affords me all of these things. And yes, it also comes with some demands that some may never understand.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Philanthropy Thought Leader, Speaker, Author, President & CEO who loves to empower leaders and help nonprofit organizations like yours THRIVE! I always tell my potential clients, during our first discovery call, that if you like to HAVE FUN {+ a few laughs} while making a BIG IMPACT in your community, you have met your match! In 2019, I celebrated my company’s 10 year anniversary. I wish I could say that the path to get to this momentous celebration was always easy. While it hasn’t been easy – it has been rewarding. I am excited The Rayvan Group has reached this milestone. Creating a life that fills me with so much passion is rewarding. The entrepreneur lifestyle also provides me the ability to live out my WHY – freedom, flexibility, and travel. Being an example to my son is what keeps me moving forward. I want him to see the good in the world and learn how he can contribute. I believe as parents, we have the ability to demonstrate philanthropy by being a civically engaged leader in our immediate community, and beyond! Since starting my consulting practice in 2009, I have had to pivot a few times during my career. My journey has taken many twists and turns. I have added services and let go of service lines that no longer inspire me. For instance, I started my career in 2009 highlighting my grant writing services. At that time, that was an easy service for me to offer to the nonprofit sector. Since that time, I have highlighted and honed my skills in other areas. Today, I focus on a handful of services that truly inspire me and allow me to tap into my genius zones. Today, these three (3) services remain top of my offering list: Keynote Speaking & Emcee, Professional Interim Executive Transitions, and Strategic Planning.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
AZ has some amazing outdoor locations to explore. Not to mention some of the best patio dining for your foodie palate. A few of my favorite hikes are just outside the city limits. The well-known Camelback Mountain (I prefer the Cholla trailhead over the Echo Canyon side). The Wave Cave Trail is another good one. It is a 3.2 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Gold Canyon, Arizona that features beautiful wild flowers. Olive & Ivy has a wonderful Scottsdale Waterfront location with outside patio dining and a canal view. It’s a great place for lunch or dinner with your girlfriends, or a business meeting. If you have more time to explore outside of the metro Phoenix area, I highly encouraging visiting the National Parks and historical sites throughout the state.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There have been many people along my journey that have helped me embrace my true authentic self and have modeled something that I have admired in them. To name a few previous supervisors of mine that have been great supporters of mine. And then there are those clients or potential clients that didn’t work out. They have equally given me the lessons I needed to learn along my career and professional journey.
