We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Jeffery and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
When I think of “work-life balance” I reference the late great Airmiess Asghedom better known as Nipsey Hussle, that “life is a marathon not a race” and I should balance myself and time accordingly. My balance has evolved over time drastically, I’ve learned to pick and choose what I can make a priority and what I am able to control in that moment. I am also learning in my life experience that balance is found through 1. Managing your mind- releasing fear, self-doubt, and anxiety and 2. Doing something you love- which keeps me refreshed, motivated, and natures my creativity. I think for me, balance ensures growth in all aspects, securing mental and emotional peace! “I mean, doesn’t everyone want peace?”

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the owner of Jasminum Haircare, a small black owned business, I launched my business in April of 2021. In my opinion my business stands apart from other hair lines because it is 100% natural and organic, there are no parabens or sulfates used in any of my products. The purpose of my products are to provide the perfect amount of moisture and nourishment for your hair, promoting overall healthier, thicker, and longer hair. I currently have three amazing products, “The Gold Label Product”, “The Black Label Product” and my “Goldylock Curl Cream”, all three products promote healthier, thicker, and longer hair for both Men and Women. I am extremely excited to announce that I will be expanding my line launching not only hair care products but skin care products! Which will be launching April 1st!

How I got to where I am today, “well it was a combination of three key factors for me”. The first factor was having the passion for it, I wanted to create a business that I knew would bring me joy and would help other people rather male or female feel more confident “but that was outside of the fashion realm”. The second key factor was having a strong support system, my team is like no-other they not only provide me with practical support but emotional. Starting a business is extremely draining and having individuals who uplift and love you is an essential ingredient that everyone needs. Last but certainly not least, being motivated got me where I am and will continue to get me to where am supposed to be. Having the motive to help others and succeed will always keep me wanting to do and be more, not only for myself but my loved ones. Thus far, I’ve learned many lessons when owning a business, one of the most important one is keeping an online presence. This may seem effortless for some but for me it is a challenge because your content must be entertaining and must stay present, in the eye of others. Social media is extremely powerful and having content that is unique will spark attention to your supporters and new customers. I am creating every day and posting at least twice a week! “I would love for you to follow my business social media account on Instagram, my handle is JasminumHaircare!”

“I would like the world to know that Jasminum Haircare is a not only a hair care business but a grandeur experience! And as the owner and founder of Jasminum Haircare I will continue to create, offer and advertise products that will not only benefit you but be something you reach for every time you get ready for the day. I must admit, my product also looks amazing on your beauty counters, in your businesses and on your bathroom shelfs. In my unpopular opinion, appearance is everything in this world, and each one of my lines will forever be described as Sleek, Sexy, & Bold!”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutely love this question; I have guest in town visiting all the time! First let me disclose that I love to have a good time and I’m extremely activate so this itinerary will consist of a little bit of everything! Frist we would probably start off each day with a hike “the views in the morning are absolutely to die for”. From there we would grab brunch, I love to bring my guest to Snooze, Breakfast Btch, and Brunch and Sip “those are my go-to spots, you can never go wrong with any of them”. We then would head to Fashion Square in Scottsdale or one of the Outlet’s to do some retail therapy. After a fun field day of shopping- it’s time for a happy hour, a few of my favorite happy hours are STK Steakhouse, Fogo de Cho’s, and Yard House. One place I would suggest people to visit for a great happy hour experience would be Undertow, it is located in Phoenix. This bar literally holds the award for best cocktails, as they have all sorts of cocktails from your classics to some really exotic ones. Also, the design and concept of the establishment is so cool and entertaining, literally one of the best experiences I’ve had! After, a great cocktail and conversation setting, we would head DT to a Phoenix Sun’s Basketball game, comedy show, a boat ride in Tempe Town Lake, concert, museum, a Korean Karaoke bar, “basically any event that may be going on that weekend, I usually find myself there”. After we’ve experienced a fun event, I would take them to dinner, a few options would be Maple and Ash, Taco Madera, Benihana’s, Mora Italian which are all here in Phoenix and amazing eats. Once dinner has concluded, we would eventually head out for a night on the town! I enjoy the nightlife of Scottsdale Oldtown. There are a ton of bars and clubs to try out, but one place I would recommend would be “Casa Amigos”, they have an upstairs bar that has a half bowling alley attached to it and plays a variety of music! After a day and night like that, I would be ready to do it all over again the next day!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

How long can this be!? Haha! First let me express that I wouldn’t be where I am or headed without giving honor and praise to my God! Now, my gratitude goes out to all of my valued customers and loyal supporters that have shopped with me, shared my post, liked my content, followed my social media accounts, left reviews, and sent positive words of encouragement to me thus far! Wow, I am truly grateful for their unmatched love and support!! I would like to personally acknowledge two important individuals that help bring my visions to life! My parent’s- my mom aka my Momagaer, she literally does everything if you ask me! I could not run this business without her or be the woman I am without her! She keeps me on task, analyzes data, develops marketing for new products, budget planning, monitor’s social media trends, ensures that my products and services falls in line with what my business stands for, and most importantly keeps me sane on a day-to-day basis! The best part’s of me are from my mom, she is my personal superwoman! My dad, he is not only one of my biggest investors in my business but the one I call when my confidence tends to waver. He is the definition of tough love! He supports me by keeping me on my toes, by questioning what is next in line for my business. Many people don’t know this, but my dad is actually the brains behind my Men’s line, “The Black Label Product”, which he had to literally push me to launch that line! My parents are basically the soul of my company, without them standing solid right next to me and pushing me to follow my dreams, I wouldn’t have gotten far at all. They truly have made me who I am, Thank You Mom and Dad for never belittling my dreams and always encouraging me to be the best version of me, you two keep me dreaming Big!

Now that we’ve gotten through my tear jerking and emotional shoutout’s I would like to acknowledge a few individuals that have contributed to my business from the beginning. My sister Courtney and brother Joe! They’re the first ones that receive and test out each of my products, providing any feedback needed before release. My Aunt, Veronica for being one of the first investors in my business, my Cousin De’Shayne for holding it down and riding this wave when it was only an idea back in 2020. My Pastor, Ricky Rambo for believing in me and always speaking greatness over my life. My cousin Alicia (Rolo) for always pushing me to level up and going beyond to share my content. Lastly, my cousin Antonino (Tony) for being the first business to sell my product in his barbershop. Thank You, to all of my family and friends that support me unconditionally! I want to show love to all my loyal customers in Kansas City, St. Louis, Chicago, and Texas, Thank You!
