We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Weaver and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, how do you think about risk?
Risk is all apart of life, and not taking a risk is the biggest risk of all. To me, risk is about growth and without growth we become complacent, bored, and stuck. I joined the financial industry over 12 years ago when I began my work as a financial advisor in my father’s firm. I talk about risk all day long with my clients, and everyone’s view is different based on their previous experiences with risk. If my client was hit hard during a market pullback and lost money, her impression of risk will always remind her of losing money. My responsibility is to educate investors on risk, not just risk with investing their money, but risk in their relationships, risk with their careers, risk with losing a loved one. I have to force people to address their risks so we can stop avoiding them. I recently took the biggest risk in my career by leaving my father’s firm to create a financial firm for women. I had to leave behind money, clients, and the comfort of working for my family’s firm. I left it all behind because I had outgrown that chapter of my life and the role in the firm. I was ready to take a risk to create something impactful for women investors and women financial advisors. I believe that change is risk, but with change, you can make your life profitable in ways you never dreamed of.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started my mission of helping women with their finances early into my career through workshops, events, and my blog Not Your Father’s Advisor, which still posts every week. As the events and blog views grew, I decided to launch my first best selling book: Strong Woman Stronger Assets at the same time I was pregnant with my daughter. We were hitting on something the financial industry had mistaken, women did want to get involved with their money, but they needed real women with real stories to get them engaged. We opened up group programs such as our Strong Retirement Club and Money Empire Club to embrace this new way of working with women and their finances. These programs then became the best selling books: Time to Refine and Confessions of a Money Queen, the latter launched in summer of 2021. Despite having all these new programs and books, the traditional broker dealers were consistently forcing myself and all the women at the Women’s Wealth Boutique to do marketing and sales the archaic way that doesn’t work for women. They were forcing us to stop being us, to blend in, and to do it their way. Being in a male dominated industry, we were forced to ignore our feminine traits to adapt so we could succeed. But the entire time we were doing it, it never felt right, and it definitely didn’t resonate with our clients. So I left the male dominated firm, and I decided to take my mission across the United States by opening our own women financial firm with women financial advisors located in all different states. By the end of the year, we will be the fastest growing financial firm in the US and the largest content creators for women and finance. We are now an independent financial firm, full fiduciaries, and have removed all conflicts of interest. Our mission is to change the financial industry for women advisors, women investors, and even women in all parts of the world. Women need more resources, more education, and more support, we are here to fill that need! All the women at our firm have taken a risk to be here with us, a risk to make the world better for women. None of it was easy, but the price of freedom for us and all women is well worth the mountains we had to climb to be here.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love being by water, so we would first go to the beach. My parents live at the Jersey Shore, so we would take a trip to Spring Lake and stare at the ocean, we would take in mass at the gorgeous St. Catherine’s Cathedral, and have lunch downtown…maybe do some shopping! To me, the ocean is the most expansive thing to look at and whenever I need to feel abundant, this is where I go. The peaceful noise of the waves crashing, the gentle ocean breeze to keep you cool while the sun shines warmly on your skin is the perfect place to meditate, journal, and tap into who you are, what you need, and what you want to envision for your life.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My father deserves this shoutout as he brought me into the financial industry, but he also realized that he could only take me so far before I needed extra help. This is where my first business coach, Robyn Crane came into the picture. Without my father’s encouragement, I wouldn’t have invested in myself through Robyn’s program, which transformed my work and helped me focus on my mission of helping women with their finances. My father also knew when it was time to part ways to take on my mission full time.
