We had the good fortune of connecting with Jim Musselman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jim, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Giving up is not an option. Never give up. No matter what you do (or don’t do), never give up. I learned that in the Marines.
What should our readers know about your business?
I practice real estate in the Sun Cities and surrounding area in Arizona for Coldwell Banker Realty. I have worked hard over the years to educate myself so that I can provide the best possible service to my clients. I’m now an associate broker. When I started in January of 2013 it was very difficult because I didn’t have a base of clients to get started with. My brother John and his family are the only family that I have here. The first few years were tough but I kept at it. I did open houses or worked the front desk looking for leads almost every day. I worked seven days a week until the covid thing came around. The only thing that I attribute any success to is perseverance. What I bring to the table for my clients is perseverance and integrity. I’m backed up by the strength of a powerhouse brokerage called Coldwell Banker Realty.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had the time and choice of where to take a friend I would go camping. When my father was alive (another old Marine) he came out to visit from New York just for that. We visited some amazing places. We took my old 4×4 to places that not many people have been to, Cabeza Prieta Widlife Refuge, KOFA Wildlife Refuge, the Sierra Pinacates in Mexico, Cibola Wildlife Refuge. We camped in Havasupi, the Chiricahua Mountains, in slot canyons in Utah, cruised Hwy 66 and saw some incredible sights. I have fond memories of those days, when you didn’t need anyone’s permission to go off the beaten path.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank my grand daughter, Victoria Ligons, who is a successful business woman. She has been supportive of me and an inspiration. She’s a better person than I am.
