We had the good fortune of connecting with Jon Hood and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jon, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own business began with my passion for music. Once I was at a point of where I was comfortable releasing my music I began to work on presenting my work, starting with simple videos and then moving into creating full visuals for each piece of work I put out. As I continued to put work out I’ve found new was to create content especially with playing guitar. I think the most important part of it all is understanding the longevity of it all. With every piece of content and project my skills grow and with that so does my brand/business. It’s about being consistent and always learning for me. Also one thing that goes hand in hand with that is collaboration and engagement with the community.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One thing that sets me apart is how long I’ve been working In music. Although I don’t feel I took it seriously enough for too long Ive been working in Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) ‘s since I was a Junior in high school so I’ve been in for awhile and have a good understanding of most of them at this point. What I’m proud of though is the last about 2 and a half years. Since then I’ve begun playing guitar everyday and making sure to get into the studio every day as well. I also have been able to run my socials consistently and with growth. My main message is in my collaboration’s with other artists. nothing makes me happier thus far. Through the years it hasn’t always been easy to juggle everything, a relationship, a day job, and my passion but I think if it wasn’t as busy I wouldn’t feel as fulfilled.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite bars is Gracies on 7th ave but really there is countless good spots downtown so Id say a night bar hopping would definitely be the way to go. Also as far as entertainment the Art, Science and music museum’s are always a great way to spend a day. So much to do in the city its hard to say love catching concerts at the van buren on the weekends. Marquee theatre has always stood out to me too.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
