We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Breske and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jordan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I moved to Gilbert in May 2015 I instantly fell in love with the charm of the city. Gilbert has changed a lot in 6 years and new restaurants, shops and businesses are popping up all the time. One of my favorite pastimes is going to check out and explore all of the new (and old) places in Gilbert and just like that…the idea for @gilbert_guide was born! I started this Instagram account to provide Gilbert residents with an authentic look at all of the wonderful things happening in Gilbert and the East Valley.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have a passion for supporting small and local businesses. I absolutely love creating content and helping to spread the word about all of the incredible makers and creators in Arizona. I also enjoy good food, so you find a ton of local restaurants featured on my account.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There is so much to see and do in Arizona! As far as restaurants, I would definitely take them to Joe’s Farm Grill in Gilbert and walk around Agritopia. I would also drive out to Tortilla Flats, have lunch and explore the area around Canyon Lake. A day trip to Sedona is a MUST! Enjoy an exciting Pink Jeep Tour, visit Page Spring Cellars for wine tasting and dinner at Mariposa. Saturday morning would be spent shopping and supporting local at the Gilbert Farmers Market.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The Gilbert/Arizona community has truly embraced me and my account. I am overwhelmed by the love and support that people have shown me. My page has allowed me the opportunity to form such special relationships with local business owners as well as other local bloggers. I am constantly inspired by other accounts on Instagram and am so thankful to be able to learn from them.
