We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Person and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jordan, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
Being an entrepreneur is a constant roller coaster of emotions. There are some days that I wake up and I sit down at my desk and I don’t get up until it is dark. After working all day, I sit on the couch with my laptop and keep working till 2am. Then, there are days that I am seeing patients from sun up til sun down and I drive 140 miles between them all. There are days when sales for my skincare line are slower then I would like, and I get really down on myself. All of the days I just mentioned are all moments that I think to myself, ‘why am I doing this,” or “maybe I should go back to work as a Nurse,” or “whose idea was this to work 24/7?”
Those moments when I really question myself, are always the same moments I receive sweet signs from the universe to keep going. Text messages, emails, comments on social media platforms, customers sharing our products on social media, are just a few of the ways I receive the love I need to keep going. The messages I receive are that of gratitude. They remind me that people need the products I make and desire the services I offer.
I am sure for each individual entrepreneur this answer is vastly different. For me, it is very simple. I need to feel appreciated. When I am reminded that I am, it gives me the strength I need to keep going. It is the validation of effective products and the relief of discomfort my patients experience that makes me love what I do every single day.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Eight years ago in 2014, I created Primal Therapeutics, Cannabis Massage. We had just passed the adult use recreational Cannabis laws and it was the perfect time to start a Cannabis business. I combined years of education, knowledge, and first hand personal healing experience into one and the result was the application of cannabinoids from head to toe, and the education explaining the importance of why this treatment was better than any other.
Primal Therapeutics has been providing massages at events, to locals, to tourists, musicians, local businesses and so much more as a mobile service because we work with high THC in our products, not just CBD. This has kept our business mobile in order to be compliant with local regulations. We have learned in the last 8 years that mobile is better for our patients as well. No one wants to have to drive after a session and with our services, you never have to.
In 2019, I decided to launch a full spectrum hemp version of my product line.
After years of fantastic reviews and recommendations from family and patients I began expanding the product line to offer skincare options as well. Every single product I have formulated is 100% organic. The herbs, botanicals, carrier oils, essential oils, and beeswax, are all organic. We are chemical free and cruelty free and our hemp is grown organically in Boulder, Colorado. The Primal Healing line of organic hemp skincare can be found at spas throughout the U.S and through our website.
Four times a year you will see me at the International Esthetics Cosmetics and Spa Conferences as the CBD Educator. I offer classes to Estheticians, Massage Therapists, and Spa Professionals and it makes me thrive. I love educating students and sharing knowledge. Cannabis saved my life after multiple surgeries and now that has become my story and my platform to educate about the powers of plant medicine and our Endocannabinoid systems.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I was just saying the other day that I would not be where I am today without NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.) I served as the executive director of Denver NORML for almost five years in Denver, Colorado.
The entire experience changed my life in so many ways. We held monthly meetings and we had guest speakers and I would give a community update or updates about current Cannabis legislation to 60-100 plus attendees. I believe I am the public speaker and educator that I am today because of those amazing monthly meetings.
While I was working with NORML, I met my former mentor, Judd Golden. Judd was an Attorney and one of the best teachers I have ever had the honor of knowing. He treated me as his equal. He was a guide and a knower of all things.
He would speak to me candidly about my imposter syndrome. He would make me understand my value on so many levels. He was the reason Denver NORML was what it was. Without his encouragement and guidance I would not be where I am today.
NORML also brought me the man I love, Benjamin Owens. We created an event together, NORML Summer Camp, and years later we fell in love. Ben is a source of daily inspiration to me. He encourages me to be the best version of myself. He supports my needs and wants for everything in my businesses, including all my trade shows and speaking opportunities. His love is daily fuel to my fire.
It would be crazy of me not to mention my Grandmother. She adopted me at age 10. She let me be me. She showered me with love and affection and taught me the true meaning of the golden rule. I would be nothing without her.
