We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Merrick and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joshua, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For me, it really just came down to identifying a particular skill set that I possess that I could potentially fan into flame to help support local businesses. That skill set for me is actually my own speaking voice, and the idea of helping “voice the causes” of other folks seemed like a worthwhile venture!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Merrick Vocal Services is all about adding a voice to the cause of others, whatever that “cause” may be! The main service that I offer is professional Voice Over Work, which can be used by businesses for their advertisement efforts, website use, social media, etc. I also do have a good amount of experience speaking in front of a camera, so I do offer video speaking services as well for any video advertisements, etc.
Another service that I offer involves Music! As an Assistant Pastor of a local church in Phoenix, I sing and lead worship on a weekly basis & enjoy using my musical gifts to serve & bless others. So I’m happy to offer my vocal services musically for weddings and small events.
Lastly, I offer Guest Speaking Services related to the following topics: Christian Living, Leadership Training, Mental & Emotional Wellness, and Wedding & Memorial Officiating.
This journey that I’m on with Merrick Vocal Services is a relatively new one, and I’m excited to see what the future brings!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Here’s a little of what we’d get into!
Eat/Drink – The Living Room, State 48, Spinato’s Pizza, Mellow Mushroom, The Grotto Cafe, Vovomeena, Elevate Coffee, Pork on a Fork, Capriotti’s, Crumble Cookie
Hiking – Camelback Mountain, Dixie Loop Trail
Other Hangs – Spring Training Baseball (if in season), Scottsdale Quarter, Old Town Scottsdale, Take in a Movie @ Westgate, Top Golf
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to give a shoutout to Cameron Smith! Little does he know it, but a small word of encouragement & affirmation given to me several years ago in regards to my vocal talent is what planted a seed that has led to where I’m at now. Thanks Cameron!
