We had the good fortune of connecting with Joyce Laszloffy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joyce, what do you attribute your success to?
The biggest factor that has allowed my business to grow so fast and contributed my success in such a short time is that I learned to let go of perfection. This is actually a principal I teach in my Course. To just start (anything) and learn along the way. This has allowed me space to grow into my business and learn from my customers what they truly want and need. In 9 months I’ve had over 7,000 women purchase the I Kicked Sugar Course to reclaim their health and happiness. With past businesses I had, I was that person who had to have every detail figured out before I even got started. I spent all kinds of money on website domains, business cards and t-shirts for ideas that never even got off the ground. I finally had to accept that the key to starting a business is… well starting it. At some point you have to just JUMP IN and start and be O.K. with not having it all together or looking perfect in the public eye. This principal allowed me to break through barriers and actually grow into the business that I am today and it’s this same principal that will propel me to the next level.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
This May will mark my 2 year anniversary of launching the I Kicked Sugar Course. 5 years ago, I Kicked Sugar! No expensive meals or vitamins, no crazy workouts or diets. I dug deep…and got to the root of my sugar cravings and food addiction. Something no one ever talks about when they’re trying to sell you the latest program, detox plan or get you to join their next 30-day challenge. I didn’t use willpower or restrict myself. In fact, that NEVER works and only makes cravings stronger. I learned the science and psychology of why we eat and crave sugar, the circumstances and emotions that keep us eating, and then finally the way out. I went from life-long sugar addict to NEVER craving the sweet stuff again. Soon after I kicked sugar I realized I wasn’t alone. So many other women suffer from sugar and food addiction and need and want help. This sent me on a mission to create the I Kicked Sugar course, where I lay out the exact same revelations and the exact same steps I used to kick sugar over 5 years ago … and soon word got out. I became a regular on TV and was called an “expert”. The press is nice, but most importantly… I’ve helped so many beautiful souls kick sugar and find food freedom once and for all, while giving them an entirely new outlook on life. Hearing from happy, healthy customers is the best part of my day. Most programs sell pixie dust, unicorns, and fairy tales….promoting “something magical” – while delivering empty promises. So how am I different from all the others out there? Well firstly, I’m a real person who’s struggled and understands the pain and torment that food can cause. But most importantly…. I teach women step by step why they crave sugar. Trust me, it’s never about the sugar. It’s deeper than that. My course addresses not only the physiology, but more importantly the psychology of why we eat and crave sugar. That’s the difference. That’s where the magic lies. Over 7,000 women have purchased my course and joined with over 2,300 active women in the IKS Tribe (Private Facebook Group Community.)
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well I LOVE nature! So everyday I would be taking them to the Valleys most iconic trails like hiking Camelback Mountain, Pinnacle Peak, Tombs Thumb Trail Head and The McDowell Mountain Preserve (Gateway Loop). Breakfast would be my favorite morning joint, MoJo’s Breakfast Joint at Grayhawk Country Club and The Henry on Camelback and Proof at The Four Seasons. Drinks and Dinner I would for sure take my friends to Blanco Tacos + Tequila on Scottsdale Road and Olive & Ivy on the Scottsdale waterfront!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout to two very important people whom if I did not have them in my life, I would not be where I am today with my business. First is my mentor who is also been my biggest supporter, my best friend and husband, Luke Jaten. Luke and I met in sales over 21 years ago, I’m very fortunate that he is a marketing genius (and has run his own successful companies as well as consults for others) who has taught me everything I know. It’s been his constant belief in me and encouragement to chase my dreams that gave me the strength to start this business. He has been my business guru who has taught me all I know about marketing and was the one who instilled the idea long ago that the BEST product to sell is information. My second Shoutout goes to my dear friend whom I share a love for creative design with, Stephanie Heymann. She is the photographer and owner of Stephanie Heymann Photography and a true creative genius. She has always had my back and believed in me long before I began this journey. Her creative artistry and genius has brought my ideas to life for branding my company. Without her support, talents, generosity and belief I would not be where I am.
