We had the good fortune of connecting with Kal and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kal, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to start my own band Because I wanted to play every genre of music ! When most people start a band they first decide what kind of band they are, whether rock , jazz , reggae , etc. I didn’t want to be put in a box , I like playing all types of music so I made my band called The Color 8. “Color” represents the different variety of sounds and music their are and “8” represents infinity in the possibilities of different outcomes you can make with music.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The main lesson I’ve learned from doing music as a career is being consistent. The more you do shows the more opportunities you have. The more you practice the better you get. People always ask me how did you make so much progress in little time with your band and I tell them by just being consistent and saying yes to every opportunity you are offered.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would tell someone to visit first Friday located in downtown Phoenix. I would tell them to go to Sedona And visit slide rock because that’s always fun. I would say eat anything downtown because all the food downtown is awesome.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my family for supporting my music career and not telling me to get a real job. Also shoutout to Futuristic for always helping me and my band and seeing potential in us to do more then we thought we could do.
