Meet Kate Grutsky | Family and Wedding Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kate Grutsky and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kate, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My story began back in 2014 when I moved to Arizona. Everything was new and different for me: new country, new city, new people, new home. I was not entirely sure as to what the future held for me. I was trying to find myself, find a place for me here. The door to photography opened up for me a little later, just a couple of years after my move. In July 2017 we welcomed to this world our son, Andrei. Like any other mom, I wanted to take pictures of him everyday, so that I could keep those memories for a lifetime. Can you relate to that feeling? So I started learning and doing photography as a hobby. It quickly grew to be a side business for me and now it’s my full time job.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I got my first camera, I was really excited! I started to take photos of just about everything I came across and of course, lots of photos of my son. This was just the beginning and I was very eager to learn! Once I felt that I was getting the hang of my new found hobby, I also realized that I wanted to do it for other people as well. I wanted to share that joy. That precious moment, captured on a single photograph is powerful and much more than just an image. For me it’s more than just a photo, it’s a part of who I am. It’s a little piece of my soul. Being a professional photographer is the most rewarding profession that I’ve ever had. After every session I feel a sense of accomplishment. 2020 was a really challenging year for a lot of people. That year pushed me to grow. I needed to make a change. With my husband’s help I opened my own photography studio called “Vision Studio”. It’s my happy place where I can create all the happy memories. My studio is also open for other photographers and their clients as well.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love showing how unique Arizona is: how pretty the desert can be; that Arizona is not just a desert, it has forests, lakes, so many interesting things to see and visit. We love going to Lake Pleasant, Sedona, Flagstaff.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband is the one who encouraged and supported me with all my decisions.
