We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayley Lazar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kayley, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always wanted to start my own business, ever since I was young. From doing lemonade stands to whenever school had business opportunities I would always jump on the opportunity. But I always wanted to sell something of my own, something I created, not someone else’s product.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been creating art since I was a child. It was always a joy of mine. Every school year I knew I’d be getting fresh new art supplies. My art is always changing and evolving. Its current state is in portrait study and really honing in on the dynamics of the face and their proportions. It hasn’t been easy and my art has gone through many challenges and struggles.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friend to DTPHX during the nightlife. We would eat at all the great foodie spots. Walk around the city. Go to the tallest building that was available and view the city.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would say a lot of my encouragement and inspiration to keep selling comes from sources like Pinterest and Tik Tok and Instagram. If no one supports my decision and dream, at least they do and give me advice and words of encouragement.
