We had the good fortune of connecting with Ketonya Bankston and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ketonya, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
The habit(s) that helped me to be successful is being a consistent person. I’m consistent in how I run my business and how I treat my clientele. Consistent people are successful people!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a small town girl with big city dreams. I’m from the historic small town of Winslow, AZ. I went to college on an academic scholarship to Northern Arizona University where I earned a degree in Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Advertising. I’ve modeled professionally well over 20 years. As a model, it was disheartening to go on set and have makeup artists not have the skills to work on my brown skin. Therefore, in 2006 I took it upon myself to travel to LA to get professionally trained in makeup by celebrity makeup artist Sam Fine. At first the craft was just for me so that I could look the part while filming a commercial or an advertisement shoot. I got good enough to have other models who looked like me to actually hire me to do their makeup. In 2011 my twin brothers Shimon and Shimeon Mattox started what is known at Style Stalkers, LLC. We’re an image consulting entity that offers head to to makeovers! I’ve learned to master my craft and stay in my lane! Things work best when I operate in my gifts and talents and allow my brothers/business partners do the same. Style Stalkers, LLC~ creating wearable beauty looks for today’s woman on the go!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Thank goodness my best friend Stephenia is local! Considering the Pandemic, there really aren’t many places to visit and hang out safely. There’s a new normal for all of us and we’ve all had to make adjustments to our standard of living and expectations. My outlook on life and how I spend my time is so much more different now than it was 6 months ago. I sincerely cherish spending quality time with family and friends. We now spend time at someone’s house playing games, talking, eating and creating new memories rather than going out. Time is precious and one of those things that we can’t get back. So don’t waste any…..

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Wow~ I could never take any of the credit for any of the success I’ve obtained thus far in my life. For starters I have to thank God for the gifts and talents He instilled in me! I have to truly thank my husband Michael Bankston and my daughter Milan Johnson. It’s not easy trying to build a legacy. So much time, effort and energy goes into achieving your goals that it can sometimes seem as though your family has taken a back seat, but they’re my biggest support system. My brothers and sisters are also my biggest supporters. They help to guide me in all that I do and set out to accomplish. I’d be reminisced if I didn’t thank each and every one of my clients. Without my clients there is no Style Stalkers. I’m always blessed and humbled with every booking that I receive. My clients have a choice and I’m thankful that every time they choose me!
