We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristin Chapman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristin, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business did not happen right away. It actually started as a hobby. I just picked up a camera one day and became determined on how to use it. During that time I had been working a job I absolutely hated. It didn’t feel like me, I wasn’t excited to get up in the morning and go to work, and I didn’t feel good about myself when I got home. I then went through a four year degree program in the hopes of finding something better, but my mind didn’t change. I kept coming back to photography. Finally, in January of 2021 I decided to take the plunge and make my passion a business. I wanted to ultimately be a wedding photographer. Someone that couples could trust and be around on one of the most important days of their lives.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a native of the American Southwest, growing up in a small area just outside of Tucson, AZ. Currently, I am a wedding photographer and the owner of Forevermore Imagery LLC. As a wedding photographer I knew I wanted to be different. While I do get posed shots of the couple, wedding party, and family members, I also very much like to focus on what makes the couple UNIQUE in their relationship. What things they enjoy doing together, and what little quirks make them different from every other couple out there. These are the things that are most important for me as a photographer to capture. While pretty pictures are great, the ones that are cherished are the ones that the couple can look at and say “that’s us”.

Since the start of my business my calendar has completely blown up. I am busy most of the year now and am currently booking weddings approximately a year in advance. Through that time with my couples, we get an engagement session done so we can get to know one another. I assist them with wedding day timelines, and of course make sure to add in enough time to get all those amazing wedding photos. I also help them with finding or recommending other vendors in the industry because as we all know, there are so MANY!

Getting to where I am now was absolutely not easy, and it still isn’t. It takes hard work and dedication to make a business work. I think all the behind the scenes work is what most people don’t think about. Marketing, advertising, client management, website management, having a constant presence on social media, editing all of the gorgeous pictures I have taken, all of it. Just because I am not out at a wedding taking pictures doesn’t mean I am not working just as hard in the background.

I have not had what other people would consider an easy life. I have had to overcome many challenges and situations that should have broken me. I chose not to allow that. Being strong and determined is what has led me to where I am. I also use this as a reason to give back. Throughout the year you can find me doing a giveaway for a complimentary wedding photography package, or doing things for families in my local community. I never want to be remembered for the things I have had in my life. Rather, I want to be remembered for the things I have given to others. I am inclusive of ALL couples. The most important thing to me is that love is love, and it is not defined by the physicality’s or beliefs of the ones in it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I grew up in Tucson, AZ and I absolutely have a few favorite spots. The first is Mt. Lemmon. It is such an amazing escape from the city. You can go up the mountain and be in a completely different world up there. Fresh air, quiet, wildlife, and some of the most delicious restaurants await. I definitely recommend the Iron Door Restaurant in Ski Valley, and you cannot go wrong with what you order. Then before you leave, head into Summerhaven and grab a cookie from the Cookie Cabin. They are literally the size of a dinner plate, and you cannot eat it all in one sitting.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
