We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyah Even and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kyah, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
One lesson that I’m continuously being reminded of in regards to my career, is that everyone’s success story is different. The daily tasks, tips, and strategies that you read about from the “big name” bloggers, aren’t always a guarantee. What works for someone, may not work for the next person. I’ve learned that through every season of my career to trust in the timing of my life, and to rely on the Lord to open doors of opportunity. I would much rather follow where He’s leading, than follow along, step-by-step, the path that everyone else has walked.

How does creativity or risk play a role in your career?
I believe when it comes to art, whatever form it may be, you should be fearless. Life is too short to only create things you think other people will admire or respond to, or to create the perfect picture, painting, or in my case, makeup look. In my line of work, there has to be a balance of creating content that my audience will be inspired by, but also allowing my creativity to flourish and be challenged. One of the things that was beneficial to this, was diving into sfx makeup. Sfx makeup demands a lot of patience to master different techniques and knowledge of the products that you’re using. Exploring different sectors of the makeup realm helped sharpen my skills and increase my passion for the art. A couple of years ago, I didn’t venture outside of doing basic, everyday makeup looks. I stuck to what I knew. But when you only limit yourself to the box that is your comfort zone, there more than likely won’t be much growth. Dare to do something different: if you mess up, don’t sweat it, try again, and again, and again. The cliché saying, “practice makes perfect”, couldn’t be more true when it comes to makeup artistry.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a born and raised Tucsonan, and a sucker for any outdoor activity. I love to hike, explore, snap photos of the beautiful scenery before me, and just watch the glorious sunsets we have here in Arizona. One of my favorite hikes would be through Sabino Canyon to Seven Falls. Never have I seen something so beautiful as this hidden treasure in my hometown. Another stunning place to explore is Oracle, AZ. It’s remote terrain allows one to feel utterly relaxed, and you can often spot deer and other wildlife wandering through the vegetation. And if you’re like me, before any road adventure, I enjoy a delicious cup of coffee to perk up my spirit, and what better place to get coffee than Ren Coffeehouse (I’d recommend their caramel latte, it’s extraordinary). Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Even in this day of age, when you tell someone that you’re a beauty influencer, many people doubt that that is a real profession. They question it’s validity, how you’ll be financially independent, and if there’s even any depth to posting on social media. I praise God that my family saw that my platform of influence isn’t just about sharing what products are “holy grail or fail”, but encouraging my audience where true beauty lies and that all people should pursue their passions. My Heavenly Father has also abundantly blessed me by carrying me every step of the way. I wouldn’t be where I am today or have had the experiences I’ve had without His hand of provision.
