We had the good fortune of connecting with Lil Que2x and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lil Que2x, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am inspired by the local Chicago artist. Seeing Rap artist like OG Stevo, The Immigrantz, Solly, and many more create fan bases and maintain them throughout the years gives me hope on the daily. They gave me my recent spark on taking music more seriously. My brother, Ulysses (Aka Boomtown) will forever be my greatest inspiration. He was right there when I said kicked the first freestyle.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My music, 98percent of the time comes from something I went through the day I made the song or something that happened weeks before. I try to use real life situation to talk to my fans about being or not being like a certain person I may have encountered. Whether it’s good or bad all situations helped me become the artist I am now. I don’t necessarily think I sound any different then all the other rappers out there, but I do know my personality sets me aside from most. While I’m still playing catch up on the music business I realized quickly that this career I chose will probably be the hardest thing I ever had to deal with. I’m learning very quickly on how to move accordingly throughout this process.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If anybody wants to go to Chicago for some good food, go to the Hood. Harolds, Sharks, Maxwells, Italian fiesta and more spots taste way better then the food spots downtown. Even our gas stations got good Nachos and stuff.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My girlfriend is my biggest help when It comes to music. From studio sessions to video shoots she was involved some type of way. Trey was there at the beginning. He still here now. He might be the reason I can rap so good he gave me the first real listening and he never closed it. My OG and pops sisters and brothers just the motivation cause they family. I refuse to not let them see a better world. Last but not least my son without him being here I probably a still be doing music but I wouldn’t want it as much. Him seeing what I seen and going through what I went through growing up is a super NO GO. So for him I work harder and play life smarter.
