We had the good fortune of connecting with Liryc and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liryc, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
The purpose of my work is to bring positive influence to the women of our community. I teach women how to self express and love themselves through the art of dance. Dance can positively contribute to a persons personal and social development, health, and mental well-being. I offer monthly classes where I challenge my students to bring out their alter ego’s and learn something new- like a sexy chair dance! So many people are privately dealing with depression and struggle with self love. I give these women a safe haven to come to where they can express themselves freely and explore a world they may not be familiar with yet.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I offer dance classes in Arizona that are so much more than just a class to learn a dance. I challenge these students to come out and learn something completely new. To push the limits of self expression and allow themselves to feel bold and sexy! My classes are typically two hours long because it allows my students enough time to comfortably adapt to their new environment, ask questions, and actually learn what I’m trying to teach. My students take away significantly more than just a choreography. Some take home a new confidence that they were not aware they had within them and some take home a new hobby or even a bestie. The thing that gets me the most excited about teaching is seeing these women continuously come back and continuously grow! They are becoming better dancers and even better people. Learning to love yourself through dance is a beautiful process that I get to witness over and over again and I mean it when I say there is not a class like mine! Dance is my art. I am very passionate about self expression and dance gives us an outlet to release and express all types of emotions. I feel lucky to help women and I hope to help many more.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my sisters were in town from California I would have so many fun things planned! I would get up early and take them to Phoenix to a cute spot called Lux for coffee and pastries to start the day. We would then find a cute, but short hike so they can see how beautiful Arizona desert is but also not spend too much time in this heat. For lunch, we would hit up the happy hour at Postino’s for wine and a bruschetta boards and end the night with walking the dogs at Tempe Town Lake.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My choreographer career began with the SuideGirls Blackheart Burlesque Tour and I am thankful for owner Missy for giving me the responsibility of creative directing and choreographing not shortly after joining the team. The challenge of taking creative direction and training multiple dancers was a something I definitely questioned f I can could handle, but since I have proven myself and fallen in love with training dancers and give all the thanks to the tour for setting me up for success and the students who keep me going.
