Meet Luisa Leon | Artist/ Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Luisa Leon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Luisa, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Every business has its risks. It is important to consider what comes with the risks. Leaving my full time job was definitely a tricky risk, but I considered it to be the only way to achieve my dream. This wouldn’t hurt anyone personally, it was more of a financial risk. However, I believe we must tell ourselves “money comes easily and frequently”. I learned this from a friend of mine. If we keep the priorities straight, the rest follows and the risk becomes the reassurance.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is a colorful reminder of womanhood and my culture. I like portraying images that have a special meaning to my heart while bringing all the color to the canvas. Life is Always better in color. Through my business, I can create original paintings, commissioned work, murals, face and body art, and workshops to give others the tools and confidence to create themselves.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Fair trade cafe for sure. I love their coffee, ambiance, and everything they stand for. It is also the home for my most recent mural. I’d also go to Mucho Mas Art Studio. They have all the goodies and gifts to fulfill anyone’s heart.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
E.L.L.A, The Arizona Mujeres Mercado, and The Phoenix Fridas have all been a huge encouragement to follow my journey.
