We had the good fortune of connecting with Lynn Traylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lynn, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I started beading hats when I saw today’s fashion that showed hats as an accessory and I thought these styles could be elevated with a beautiful beaded hat. I want to create pieces for anyone with style can appreciate. This is where my concept of “Creating Generational Art for All” came from. A beaded piece takes planning, care, time, and creativity! With all the time and care it takes to bead a piece, it is a valuable piece of wearable art.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Aside from being an artist, I also do work in criminal prosecution in domestic violence. That type of work and can be very stressful. I started beading as a stress relief outlet. I learned to bead before then at a young age. My father taught me how to bead. I started beading more regularly in recent years.
I am proud that people want to wear my pieces and each piece I create I do with care and specifically for that individual. I bless each piece with cedar after it is completed and before it is ready to wear. I bead with good intentions and thoughts.
Starting a business is exciting and can also be a little nerve racking. There are challenges but planning helps so much. I try to stay organized to help with challenges. I’ve learned that planning goes a long way to be successful. And above all else, to have fun and enjoy what I do! If I didn’t enjoy beading, this wouldn’t work for me. But I love beading and creating wearable art!
“Creating Generational Art for All” is about creating valuable custom pieces of wearable art and that is what Auntie Creations is about.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The Heard Museum for a morning. The Van Gogh exhibit (if it’ still available)
Last Chance and a little thrifting around the valley (gotta love a good deal!)
Dinner: Si Senor (New Mexico style Mexican food is the best)
Brunch: Breakfast Bitch (there are always stylish people during brunch)
See a movie
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I think the support and encouragement can’t be limited to just one person but to those with style and a loved for fashion as a whole! They are who inspire me! I see different people daily in different walks of life who carry themselves well and with style. And they are who motivate me.
I took all these photos and own all of them. Models: PJ Vegas (he’s in two photos) Corisa Williams (she’s in the black hat wearing all black) Shenise Bryant ( she is wearing the red hat) Live shot of photoshoot (I’m taking the photo)
