We had the good fortune of connecting with Lynne Gabrielson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lynne, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started Pixie Dust Marketing 4 years ago while chatting with my childhood friend. I was running the Marketing department for a local hearing aid company at the time and out of nowhere said “I wish I could do this for myself instead of working for someone else.” She replied back with “Why don’t you?” I laughed and said “I can’t start my own business.” That was the day Pixie Dust Marketing was born.
What should our readers know about your business?
Pixie Dust Marketing was born in July 2016. If you told me 10 years ago that I would be running a local Advertising Agency I wouldn’t have believed you! I am a second generation of Arizona, and love everything about her. Including her 115 degree days! I love the people and businesses of Arizona. My goal is to support Arizona businesses, help them grow, and assist the owner in achieving their goals for their business. Small to mid sized businesses are the heart beat of Arizona, and if I can help them succeed, then that is the greatest achievement I can have. As any business owner can tell you, the process of starting is never “easy”. As Theodore Roosevelt said “Nothing worth having was ever achieved without effort.” If you really want something you put in the work that is required to make it successful! I am very blessed to have a great support system and business couches to help guide me through the challenges I experienced while starting my business. I want to be that support system for other businesses owners. This year affected each of us in different ways. I always thought I knew what set me apart from others, but I was wrong. I learned this year, that what sets me apart is personal connection. Sure, you can run a successful business and have great relationships with clients via Zoom, but that isn’t something that I enjoy. I want to get to know my clients and see their business first hand. There is a lot that you can learn about a business and owner by walking into their lobby and actually meeting them face to face. Pixie Dust Marketing is more then a local Advertising Agency. With Pixie Dust Marketing you will receive marketing services of course, but also a support system, a friend, and a company you can trust.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a water baby. When I was in college I was introduced to Slide Rock and Oak Creek. I think Oak Creek in Sedona would be the first place I would take a visitor as it is one of the most beautiful places in Arizona. Lake Powell is also an amazing place for water sports and camping. Being a native of Arizona i am in love with Mexican food. I joke and say I have to have Mexican food once a week or I might die. I think it is impossible to say just one restaurant as my favorite. My top 3 favorite Mexican food restaurants would have to be Someburros, Carolina’s, and Casa Reynoso (I could drink their enchilada sauce). The best place to hang out and have a nice glass of wine and snacks would be Terrior Wine Pub. They are my Cheers!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to Amanda Hurley. If it wasn’t for her Pixie Dust Marketing wouldn’t be here today! We have been friends for 26 years. Amanda was the one who made the idea that I could run my own business a reality. She has been there through all the blood, sweat, tears, and successes of Pixie Dust Marketing. I wouldn’t be where I am today without her support and encouragement. She knew I could do this before I did.
