We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa Lamson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Melissa, what is the most important factor behind your success?
There are many factors; education, certifications, years of experience…
But the most important factor has been the ability to create successful solutions for some of the the best leaders and companies in the world. Impact and results brings referrals to more great clients.
What should our readers know about your business?
After my Master’s in Diversity Management, I started my career in the US working for successful Diversity Practitioners to build their businesses. It was exciting and rewarding but I also knew that I wanted to understand how diverse teams collaborated internationally. When I had the opportunity to move to Germany, I took it. I build two companies in Europe, on specializing in Global Leadership and another in Diversity & Inclusion. I was one of a just a few people working in the industry and we grew the businesses quickly.
I had the opportunity to work one projects in over 40 countries with companies across all industries like 3M, Commerzbank, Ikea, Linkedin, MTV, SAP, Siemens, and Volkswagen.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would start in Phoenix, hitting the fun bars like Valley Bar, Lulo’s Swim Club, and restaurants downtown like Durant’s and Forno. Then we’d explore Scottsdale, SMOCA, Old Town for funky western trinkets, restaurants like FnB and AZ 88, and shopping at the mall. To finish, we’d spend three days in Sedona hiking and enjoying the outdoors.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents taught me communication is everything. And in order to communicate well, one needs patience and tolerance. At an early age I had exposure to diverse cultures and languages and learned to navigate complexity in interaction.
Today, the tools and frameworks I use with leaders support agility, engagement and productivity.
