We had the good fortune of connecting with Monty Lusk and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Monty, how do you think about risk?
I live by the saying “You have to risk your life to save your life.” and this has stood true to me in every situation & every opportunity. Taking risks has been one of the biggest factors in my success as a Digital artist today. As humans we don’t take seriously enough what we deserve in life. Thats what separates a lot of us from success, once you start taking risks to live the life you deserve you’ll start to thrive in all areas of your life. You can’t inspire the world by trying to be just like it, you have to step out of your comfort zone, Do things differently and be confident in your ideas.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Ive always been the type to try and break away from societal norms and find my own way in this crazy world. Im not afraid to take risks and put out something different or what some people may consider a little weird. At the end of the day its something that’s never been done before and originality is extremely hard for a lot of people these days. When I was younger I was extremely drawn to technology and made the efforts to pursue every interest I had from Photography, Videography, Graphic design , Animation design to web development. Life isn’t easy for anyone so I won’t bore anyone with my life story but if I can give one piece of advice to anyone reading this now it would be: we DONT control the cards that have been handed to us in life but we DO control how we play them in every situation. A younger version of myself would be so proud because never at the time did I think this kid from small town Queen Creek, Arizona would be living in Long Beach, CA as a full time freelance artist working for some of the coolest brands such as: New Norml media and Designer eyes LA And never would I have thought to be surrounded some of the most creative and talented people in the industry.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spot in Arizona is Downtown Gilbert. its been my stomping grounds since high school I love the energy. The people are rad and its got a cool old fashion but modernized look to it. Definitely a great place for photoshoots, to get some good food/ drinks and hang out.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This is a shout out to all the people who believed in me when no one else did, who have stuck with me and where there for me when no one else was. Im blessed to have some of the most out of the box, talented and creative people in my life.
