We had the good fortune of connecting with Vangela Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vangela, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always been called to make a positive impact throughout my life. There has always been different types of people impacted in different ways. As the internet lifestyle has developed over the last 10 years I realized I can be more impactful to more people by being present and delivering what I have to serve others virtually vs only in person. I then realized by showing up social media people were asking me the same questions over and over:

1. Whats on your face?
2. What are you wearing? Where did you get that?
3. What do you do to keep fit?
4. What do you eat and what do you feed your kids?

These questions have served as the driving force for the content I provide to whom I am impacting and serving.

This is why the blog was designed and Vangela’s Eyeshadow Course was developed as well as The Smoothie Habit ebook.

I am currently working on Pretty Fab Fit which is a on demand workout site focusing on working out being fun and effective vs. not wanting to work out. It will be focused on the rebounder trampoline as well as strength training.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I help women Find her Fabulous. How do I do that? By inspiring and encouraging her to keep her crown on her head and picking it up when it falls off. Like when life is thrown at us. . Life can throw us confetti as well as rocks. I choose to focus on the confetti and turning rocks into confetti. While finding my own fabulous I am helping others do the same. It started after I had kids. It is really easy to forget about yourself when babies arrive. It’s naturally about serving them and if not intentional, years will go by and ladies look in the mirror and realize their crown fell off a long time ago and it’s time to put it back on! I believe and advocate for mommas to make sure they are still learning about themselves, taking care of themselves and making their hobbies a priority as well not just their kids’. Find that ONE thing you can do without your kids and make it YOURS! Make it just for you. For me its beauty and fitness. I share the love for them and how it can help you conquer your world when combining the two together. Through this process I have learned to turn my passion into something more. Something that I can impact others by teaching them do their own makeup and looking in the mirror and say, “I did that!” Or crushing a workout not caring what anyone around them thinks because they just showed up and made it happen. Or actually making the time to put themselves together for the day. The ladies I impact are looking for ways to show up in life in their most fabulous self. Some days that’s showering or working out without kids around. Other days, its showering, putting makeup on, putting a fabulous outfit together and getting all your “to do” list done. Sometimes, its just learning to forgive yourself and realize you’ve been gifted another day and try again tomorrow.
One product I have created to help with this mission is Vangela’s Eyeshadow School : a virutal make up course. I put together a tutorial course answering the most repeated questions I’ve ever been asked about eye makeup. It’s loaded with goodness and no it was not easy. I know my strengths and weaknesses and my genius is NOT in the tech department so it took a lot of learning and frustrations and challenges to overcome to launch it.
Another product is The Smoothie Habit. This is such a life changing habit I developed years ago that helps me find my fabulous daily. I don’t now any mom who wants more dishes to wash or meals to make and the time it takes to make food and clean up is crazy so I created The Smoothie Habit ebook. Inside this book I teach all about how to create the perfect “juice bar” smoothie and 3 main tips to make it delicious. There are 21 smoothie recipes and 7 smoothie bowl recipes in there. Including my kids’ favorites. Making these smoothies help me with the sanity of cooking and cleanup for one meal a day.
Lastly, I am currently working on an on demand workout membership site called Pretty Fab Fit. The impact this will make will actually inspire people to WANT To workout because I make it fun and effective. After doing some market research I realized one of the most common reasons people don’t work out is “it’s not fun” and “I don’t want to make the time to go to a gym.” My solution is Pretty Fab Fit. They can press play and workout with me at their convenance. What sets this apart from other workouts is the main workout Bounce,. It uses the rebounder trampoline and I make it fun with high energy and heart pumping drive and incorporate strength training to maximize results.
These have all been years in the making as I have invested and sacrificed a lot of time, money, energy and consistent effort I call GUMPTION to make it happen.
I have learned a lot of lessons along the process of creating my own brand. One lesson is to invest in personal development, whatever that is for you and your goals. I call myself a “Life Under Construction” and I am one to constantly learn and soak up knowledge from those better than me. I surround myself with those better than me so I can grow into someone who is better tomorrow, than today. If you stay stagnant in your life you will look around and have a victim mentality and compare yourself to others. Comparison is the the thief of joy. God has perfect plans for each one of us and I believe He is what has helped me overcome challenges and not have “comparitis.”

I have overcome a lot of challenges throughout the past 7 years of developing my brand and serving those women who are looking to find her fabulous. One hurdle I have had to overcome is the technology aspect. I am not a tech chick! I have learned to be resourceful to find success. I outsource a lot of my tech stuff to someone who is in his genius. I’ve learned to outsource what is not my genius (what I’m not good at.) I ask a lot of people questions and tell them what I am up to and someone always knows someone who can help out. Getting resourceful and network is a huge part of my success. I have learned a lot; however, i don’t want to be good at it because it’s not my gift and I’m not here to help women find her techy self. LOL At first I wasn’t able to outsource so I had to learn a lot myself and thats where the challenges and the feelings of discouragement come in.

The biggest challenge and lesson I have learned along the way is being able to push the naysayers away and overcome the “stuck” points in the process. There’s been many times when negative mindset thoughts try and get in my way and I have to work through them. I do this by constantly realize who I am called to be and from that, who I am called to serve. and impact. When I focus on the impact of people I am serving, I push through the negative people, negative talk and self doubt.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit Phoenix and I wanted to show them the best time I would say leave the kids at home and lets go to my friends Barre Fusion dance class at Mountain Side Fitness and favorite hot yoga studio True Hot Yoga, then hit up one of my favorite restaurants for brunch The Breakfast Kitchen Bar.. It has a fabulous variety of brunchy food, my favorite. I would also take them hiking up Camelback mountain if it wasn’t too hot. Then for dinner head to True Foods. I am a major foodie so I would hit up all my favorite restaurants in the Scottsdale area such as those listed above as well as Postino’s for night life food, Nektar Juice Bar for a smoothie bowl, Tokyo Lobby for sushi, Flower Child for lunch, Coconuts for amazing fish tacos, Koi Poke for poke bowl and Soi 4 for Thai food or Elements at The Sanctuary Resort for fine dining. I would do a staycation for a few days that week at The Fairmont Princess Resort and Spa or The Sanctuary and hang at the pool and just do nothing. If they came during October The Princess has a great Pumpkin Nights festive event at the property or during Christmas they do Christmas at The Princess. Super festive.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have so many people who have contributed to my consistent effort and successes. Being an entrepreneur is not for the faint at heart. It is for people who know how to be resilient who can overcome heartaches, turn disappointments and challenges into glory and when surprises show up they can accommodate and shift for the better. There are many people and resources that have helped me a long the way throughout this process. Vicki and JR Burnett for starting the fire of entrepreneurship in me, Kate McShea for teaching me a “funnel” and online marketing, Scott Ballard for constantly reminding me that the prize is in the PROCESS and to look at what is going right not wrong. My awesome husband who is a sounding board and supports my mission. My tech team Dereck Burmudez and Sarah Lawyer who is always there to guide me when feeling stuck in the tech process and God for always showing me his perfect plan for who I am suppose to be impacting for his perfect plan and purpose. Oh and I can’t forget all the haters and trolls and naysayers along the way. They put fuel in my passion and mission.
