We had the good fortune of connecting with Natasha Denaxas & Montese Overton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Natasha Denaxas & Montese Overton, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
We believe that having a work life balance is so important to having a happy life. Work is so fulfilling, but it can also be draining and time consuming. Sadly, time is the one thing we can’t buy, yet it’s also the most valuable thing in the world. Don’t get so consumed in your work that you forget about the people, places, and activities that fill YOUR cup. You can’t pour creativity into your business without filling your own cup first. Spend time with your friends, laugh with your loved ones, stay up all night watching your favorite shows, and still be an amazing business owner.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, being newbies ourselves this is a great question! We moved here in November of 2019, right before the pandemic hit so we haven’t gotten to experience quite as much as we’d wish but we do have some favorites! We would probably start the week off with a mini road trip up to Sedona. We’ve done that once so far and the trip was so beautiful, and such a fun experience. Later in the week we’d go to Lake Pleasant to rent a pontoon boat (with a tube of course)! It’s summer now, and the heat is NO joke, but not much is better than being on a boat with your friends. Over the weekend we would definitely head over to Westgate and get margarita pitchers from SALT, while bar hopping around the fountain. Lastly we would have to get some hangover tacos and horchata from Unos Tacos in Phoenix! Mmm now we might have to go this weekend!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Since we started this company, we have been inspired by many people but two people in particular stand out, Ruth & Basil Denaxas. They are Natasha’s grandparents and not only did they start and run multiple businesses together but they have also been married for 57 years. Ruth is a small town Minnesota farm girl, and Basil is strong and independent Greek immigrant. They married in Greece and moved back to the United States working their way up, and providing for their family. Basil was working at Ford motor company and Ruth was doing hair at her own salon. He saw how well the salon was doing and decided to leave Ford Motor Company to get his cosmetology license and become an entrepreneur with her. Others may have seen this as a risk, especially in the 60s when the American automobile industry was booming, but they knew that together they could do it. They later sold the salon in Minnesota and moved to Bellevue, WA with their two children and started not only one but eventually three salons in the area, while also investing in real estate. They worked together all those years, while raising a family, and creating a legacy. They eventually sold their salons in their 50’s and focused primarily on real estate. Working hard, loving one another, and inspiring their granddaughter. When we started this company we saw what they were able to to do and it inspired us even more to not give up. Since we moved to Arizona from Seattle, they have been supporting our dream to start our own company. When we first started out not only did they help financially but they even volunteered to be our “guniea pigs”. We spent hours talking about what we were going to do and they made sure to ask all of the right questions. Ruth sampled all of our CBD products and used her love for naturopathic health to give amazing suggestions. But most importantly we were both inspired by the life they created together. They inspire us to work hard, never give up, but mostly to always have fun and love one another.
