We had the good fortune of connecting with Paris Prynkiewicz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paris, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
The habits I feel have helped me succeed are the habits outlined in the title of my podcast, Master Your M.E.N.T.A.L. M= Mindset
E= Engagement
N= Nutrition
T= Talk About It
A= Accountability
L= Love Yourself
I prioritize my MINDSET by feeding my mind uplifting information in the format of podcasts and reading personal development books while highlighting key takeaways. I prioritize my ENGAGEMENT by engaging in relationships and in environments that uplift my spirit and push me to be better. I prioritize my NUTRITION by fueling my body with foods, meals and liquids that leave me feeling energized and ready to take on the day while maintaining optimal sleep. I prioritize TALK ABOUT IT by communication in therapy and expressing my thoughts, feelings and emotions to gain awareness and insight into the ways in which these states impact my life. I prioritize ACCOUNTABILITY by taking responsibility for my actions or mis-actions to stay solution-focused. I prioritize LOVE YOURSELF by practicing daily meditation, gratitude journaling and moving my body to care for both my physical and mental health.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art lives inside the eye-opening interviews on my podcast, Master Your M.E.N.T.A.L and inside the pages of my memoir, Crooked Illness: Lessons From Inside & Outside Hospital Walls. I launched my podcast, Master Your M.E.N.T.A.L, to bring more conversations to the table on the topic of mental health to make these topics more normalized and less stigmatized. I feature tips, strategies and solutions from the lived experiences of my guests to help my listeners gain insight into the many solutions that exist for prioritizing mental health. I wrote and published my memoir, Crooked Illness: Lessons From Inside & Outside Hospital Walls, to offer readers a look into what it was like during my struggles with bipolar disorder and the changes I made to my life to shatter the stigma, conquer my obstacles and begin to craft the life I only ever dreamed of. I wrote this story to inspire others who are struggling or who have struggled with their mental health that it is possible to move forward.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am from Sunny Scottsdale, AZ so I would definitely take my best friend out for a beautiful hike up Camelback Mountain. Next, I would take them to check-out a delicious breakfast at Prep & Pastry while making a stop afterward to Wine Girl for a drink. After this, we would explore the shops downtown in Old Town Scottsdale to check-out some vintage and antique shops with cool finds! Then, we could get cleaned up and hit the hot tub, sauna and steam room at my place before heading out for a great dinner at Evo Italian. Last stop would be Salvatore Vineyards Wine for a glass of wine before heading to bed!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), Valley of the Sun, for providing me the opportunity to share my story related to bipolar disorder and to volunteer to impact the lives of others. I am thankful to be part of your organization to continue to do work in the community to shatter the stigma associated with mental illness. I am proud to volunteer for an organization that works tirelessly to teach others the valuable skills for prioritizing our mental health. These skills are useful tools that have enabled me and so many others to overcome mental health obstacles to grow, prosper and create lasting change for others.
