Meet Patrick Grimes | Wedding and Portrait Photographer.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Patrick Grimes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Patrick, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My passion for photography and my desire to be my own boss.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets my wedding photography apart is decades of experience, formal training and a refined eye for composition and lighting. Just as important is my ability to work easily with people, while keeping the process thorough and efficient. My goal is to provide well balanced coverage that blends photojournalistic storytelling with fine art imagery while building relationships with clients so the photographs truly reflect their vision
My love and interest for photography really began in high school with photography classes. It was there that I learned more about composition, lighting, negative processing and printing. The next building block to my skills was the training and knowledge I learned with an apprenticeship in graphic arts. In college I studied studio lighting, posing, and photojournalism. After graduating from the University of Arizona, I worked for a studio in Tucson for five years where I learned more about posing, lighting and how to run a photography business. Then, I started my own wedding and portrait photography business where I continually sharpen my skills with workshops and international competitions.
The biggest challenge of my career was transitioning from a film photographer to learning, loving and embracing digital photography.
What am I most proud of with my business? Knowing that after 30 years, I have built a photography business that has thrived in an ever changing market.
