We had the good fortune of connecting with Patrick Niederdrenk and Max de Melo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Patrick and Max, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Max and I always preferred being paid for our performance and not our time. The hardest part is getting started, especially in a commission based industry since you will have to be able to get by without a guaranteed income for a while, or any income for that matter. Owning a business or being an independent contractor is stressful and hard work, but it is the only way to guarantee your own success. As an employee you are always at the mercy of your boss and many other circumstances you can’t control. We work 24/7 for years now but we don’t regret it, not for 1 second. We’re willing to outwork everyone for as long as we have to, to make it to the top. Then we can start enjoying the rewards and enjoy life.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our goal is to always go the extra mile in everything we do, for us and for our clients. We went from zero to almost $50,000,000 sold in residential real estate within the last 24 month. Our business has been 90% referral based which is something we are very proud of. Real Estate is like any other business you start, it takes a while to get going but once you get momentum the sky is the limit. Persistency is the most important thing.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We constantly have friends, family and clients in town. Usually everyone wants to play golf, watch a NBA or NFL game and have a good time with dinners and drinks in Old Town Scottsdale.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are many people and books that have impacted our path over the years. For our real estate business we can say that “The Sell” by Frederik Eklund and “Sell it like Serhant” have been interesting and helpful. Ultimately, all mentors and books have the same bottom line; If you want to make it to the top, you have to be the hardest worker and play by the rules. We are always trying to learn more, and know that there are so many people that can teach us a lot. We enjoy and appreciate these relationships, and also love to help and give others advise if we can.
