We had the good fortune of connecting with Prudence Zuzero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Prudence, what do you want your legacy to be?
That God was my driving force. That more times than not, I allowed my children and grandchildren to flourish and develop in an open and supportive environment. For those that I met-regardless of how brief- on life’s journey, that hopefully I saw and said something to them like words and/or gestures of thoughtfulness and kindness.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
1. Worked a few years in the IBM department of Phx Title and Trust and there I met the most supportive individual that encouraged me to become the best I could be. From there, I married and did the following:
2. Helped bring natural birthing to Doctor’s Hospital
3. Helped start the first Montessori school in Davenport, Iowa
4. Manage an apartment unit in Davenport, Iowa so we could live a better life
5. Was a Hospice volunteer for a few years
6. Operated the exercise department at Cowden Center, a branch of a John C. Lincoln Hospital while also working at JCC in their exercise department. Between the two did this for approx 14 years.
7. Joined my husband and together we were health insurance brokers for almost 25 to 30 years
8. During those 25 to 30 years, I spent 18 years at a local company in downtown Phx keeping their books
9. Of late, offer a free class on adjusting to purpose as we age.

Life is a challenge. Humor, tears, humility, back to the drawing board, small constructive steps repeated daily, doing what’s best for those you represent and lined with determination; one succeeds. So, nothing special about me, as what I did and now do, another can do. It’s a choice. Of all the above, being a parent was my most humbling, challenging and rewarding gift. As of the many passing years, sharing Christ and praying with anyone is my passion.

Ok, aren’t you glad you asked?

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Not much knowledge in this area. Most of my friends, which include my family, we hang out at home, eat and share life. A week is a long time, so no one stays for a whole week. We love being outdoors, exercising, hikes, although not like years ago, and going to MT to be with Mother Nature. When family or friends are at my house, I just do whatever they want.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Too many to mention. From the age of 18 to now 84, almost every day, God brings into my life individuals like my children and grandchildren to support my endeavors, books to encourage my growth and trials to test my temperance. I guess my Shoutout would be to Life: the greatest teacher of all.
