We had the good fortune of connecting with Quentin Raffoux and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Quentin, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I always loved writing stories, coming up with strange characters and worldbuilding. Creating alternate universes and realities helped me escape my own. It turned up people like what I did and I decided de pursue in that way.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It was never easy. And it will never be. Producing a book, then another requires a lot of time, efforts and sacrifices. It will attract people ready to drag you down, jealous or simple haters… but in the end, you will also meet people ready to help you, readers who enjoy your work and a great satifaction after completion. You got to focus on these points, not the negative. Keep going. I would have one only advice: never give up and luck will find you (Falkor, The Neverending Story)
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living in Quebec, it would probably be going on a boat and check on the whales in the St Laurent river. With a beer and all the time in the world.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t have done anything without my wife. What started as a solo project ended up as a couple project bringing us closer during the pandemic’s lockdown where we were hundred of miles apart.
