We had the good fortune of connecting with Rome Tmskrew and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rome, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Becoming a event promoter was not at all on my radar to begin with. Growing up I always wanted to be an hiphop artist. It wasn’t until my mid 20’s when i snapped out of this “i cant do it mindset ” and start pursuing my career as a rapper.

In 2019 I went on my first tour as an artist, however about half way through our two week long tour I noticed the promoter needed help on each of our events and I stepped forward to fill the void. I took a liking to really enjoying and gaining an interest in the behind the scenes aspect of a hiphop show.

Not long after working under this promoter I along with several other artists were scammed out of money in his hands. This was the motivation I needed. Being an artist and watching my peers being taken advantage of at the hands of a bad promoter sparked something in me to step foward with the knowledge I gained to help give independent artists the respect and fairness they deserve.

To this day I strive to give artists the best experience possible. We as a team have maintained a great reputation in Arizona aswell as many other states we have toured. We recognize being an up and coming artist is hard and over the last 4 years I have enjoyed watching the growth and development of so many artists. I am thankful to be a stepping stone in their career.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a business we still have a long way to go, everyday things change within the industry. However having the best intentions and doing good business will always take the cake. I enjoy working with so many people, getting to know then and building relationships with these amazing people, its a blessing. I have no limits where we can take this, we are still relatively small compared to many promotion companys like, we are no where near booking Drake! But thats something I enjoy aswell, working with real people helping people find happiness outside of their 9 to 5’s. Giving artists a platform to do what they love and are passionate about.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Man, im not much of a club guy but eating out is near and dear to my heart. For one hiking in Arizona is amazing if the weather is right. Now if we were going to eat my all time favorite place is Arribas Mexican Grill, also Hulu’s Tiki bar. We would have to end up at an event so maybe go to Valley Bar downtown for some drinks and a live show. Honorable mentions, Mill ave is always fun or First Friday aswell.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and formost I must give a HUGE shoutout to my team 867 ENTERTAINMENT having a group of like minded individuals looking to elevate and take things to the next level is essential for growth. I want to thank every artist, dj, and venue that continue to give us a chance to provide a platform for the community. Also I have to thank all the supporters and fans that attend our events, we couldn’t continue doing what we do with out you guys!
