We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Bayer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe that my success is due to the incredible support system that I have. My friends and family are the ones who encouraged me to start my own business this past year. They saw how passionate I was about baking and motivated me to start an Instagram page to get a following. This gradually lead me to start selling my homemade baked goods locally. My support system is what helped ignite my drive and passion for my business.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am currently starting a new career path after starting my own business. I realized what I was truly excited about doing everyday. I recently started working as a Pastry Chef in a restaurant. What makes me stand out from others is that I am self taught and everything I know I learned on my own or from mentors. I would say it was challenging not having formal training in the field but my support system made it manageable and rewarding.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend visiting I would make sure to show them the full range of nature Arizona has to offer. I would start in Phoenix and show them my favorite Thai restaurant Glai Baan then go to Arizona Wilderness to enjoy local beer. Then I would take my friend to the superstition mountains to hike the flat iron trail. I would then head up north and take a weekend trip to Flagstaff to go skiing at snowbowl or in the summer enjoy the scenic ski lift. I would take my friend to Macy’s for coffee/ breakfast and enjoy walking around downtown. We would then walk around Buffalo park and enjoy dinner at Fratellis. We would then go to the Grand Canyon and walk around the rim trail taking in the incredible views. On the way back we would take a day to enjoy time in Sedona. We would spend some time at oak creek by hiking Huckaby Trail and having a picnic. I would then come back to Phoenix and make sure to take them to the botanical gardens before they left Arizona.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to my family and friends for the constant support, always inspiring me to try new ideas recipes, and encouraging me to do what I love.
