We had the good fortune of connecting with Sue Hershkowitz-Coore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sue, what do you attribute your success to?
Knowing I could succeed.
It was family tradition to make something out of nothing. Staying focused on outcomes, instead of obstacles, kept me moving forward.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Sales trainers are a dime a dozen (as the expression goes). But my difference is that I have nothing off the shelf. If you had a million dollar training budget and told me I could have it, but I’d have to start NOW, I’d have to turn you down. Every presentation I deliver is bespoke. That is how simultaneously I’ve been able to work with competitors like Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, Four Seasons, Langham, Mandarin Oriental and more. Each has a unique brand message and that is what training revolves around to create distinction and sales.
I’ve written two books, both published by major publishing houses, Power Sales Writing, McGraw Hill and How to Say it to Sell It, Random House/Penguin. So many people call themselves “best sellers” but it is only in their own minds – or maybe the amount they pay for prominent display. My books are ranked 4.5 stars, will never be best sellers, but will transform results.
What do I want the world to know about my brand and story? My brand is all about showing care rather than focusing just on transaction, making it easier for the other person to move forward and keeping people excited about outcomes. My story continues to evolve –
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Best place to eat and drink? Step right up! We have a great wine selection and though I’m not much of a cook, I know how to order in! Andreaoli’s Grocery would be a definite take out and Pita Jungle for healthy and hearty We’d definitely hike (for hours) state preserve land across the street from where I live.
Of course, first would be a trip to hike into the Grand Canyon, and also a day in Sedona, hiking, breathing, and finishing our day on the patio of Cucina Rustica in Sedona.
If my best friend came with her kids, we’d be busy all the time! Butterfly World, OdySea Aquarium, a picnic at Fountain Hills, and we’d visit every park in Scottsdale, each with something fun and unique for the kids.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So many people deserve credit in my story! My first client who hired me and when I finally gathered the nerve to ask why she hired me, said “What you lacked in professionalism was everything, but you made up for it in enthusiasm. We weren’t sure when you’d get it right but we knew when you did, it – you – would change everything for us.”
My husband who has stood by me, supported me, encouraged me to do better, do more, be me.
But most of all, this dedication goes to my dad. He taught me to never give up on my dream. Work harder than everyone else, Work smarter than everyone else. Stay true to my values and give more than I’d get. It all sounds like a cliche but that is my story, and I realize how lucky I am to have watched my dad work non-stop to make his dreams come true and to see him model each of the behaviors he expressed to me.
