We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Jumping into the food world is always a risk, but for us it began with a big leap of faith during a global pandemic. We had always known getting into the food-game was the plan, but both Jake and I had wonderful teaching careers that we were dedicated to…pre-covid. Covid flipped the world on its side and definitely changed life for us. Two weeks before the world shut down, I gave birth to our son and felt I needed to stay home with our kids and step away from teaching. A couple months into being a stay at home mom, I had this gut feeling that it was time to make another big move. So, late one night I began creating. Jake woke up the next morning to a follow request from an account named “Jones Family Kitchen” and rolled over to ask me if I created our company last night. I smiled a “yes” in reply and that was that! We had really begun! For us Joneses, life is all about a balance of calculated risks, following our gut feelings, and planning heavily. Our personal life has always had a good mix of all three and we are proudly operating our business with this combination as well!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
To be honest, Jake and I lean a little towards the “perfectionist” side of the scale, so you can bet everything that comes out under our name is going to be top tier. We are so proud of the quality of our food and the process in which it is made. At this stage in our business we are creating oven-ready, family style meals to be delivered throughout the East Valley. Each ingredient is carefully chosen, each recipe has been perfected, and nothing leaves our sight without triple checking every item from top to bottom. When you enjoy our food, that first bite to really makes your eyes close a bit and you can’t help but to “Mmm”! We want our food to feel like you’re a part of our family and feel the love behind it. We are also continuously working behind the scenes to improve everything from the marketing and branding, to the level of eco-friendly we are, to the way we do business. Everything is constantly under a microscope with a perfectionist at the lens! Everything except for the food… the food is perfect!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you’re in Arizona for the week, we definitely recommend checking out all the local eats. Some of our favorite bars (with great food of course) are Casey Moores, Teakwoods and Four Peaks. If you’re looking for more of a date night we love Tutti Santi, Wrigley Mansion, or The Salt Cellar. But really, if you’re in Arizona for the week you need to have some good Mexican food of all varieties! Everything from Casa de Juana to Elmer’s to Old Town Tortilla Factory is the best here! And if you’re looking for fun, we love taking our kids to the Arizona Science Center or any place with a water attraction.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We’d love to shoutout all of the amazing people we’ve met in this process! From our customers to market coordinators to the health department to our commissary – everyone has been truly wonderful! Thank you for supporting our dreams!
