We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Laos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
For me it was less a decision but rather realizing my skillsets should not be confined to the fashion world but for all industries I have interest in. We must always challenge ourselves to never stop learning – there are so many digital tools out there. I’ve now been hired for projects in Travel/Hospitality, Fashion, Retail, Marketing, Publishing, Healthcare, Food/Beverage and every experience has offered something different. Perspective allows you to examine a project from all angles and think outside the box. My new adventure is learning more about Agriculture as my Husband, Sister-in-Law, Mother-in-Law and I own @lasierraranch – a free range, grass fed cattle ranch in Tucson, Arizona that has been in the Laos family for 100 years.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As a creative services business owner, I currently have my hands in a variety of brand projects. I just did some Art Direction and Styling for Budweiser, Photography for Moon Juice, Creative Direction + Re-Branding for MedFoyer – what’s interesting about these brands is they are all so different. All completely different industries. Learning and massaging the ability to be adaptable has served me in work. I think I got to where I am by listening, delivering quality results and developing relationships along my journey with incredible people – some I am now lucky enough to call clients as well as friends. As a brand, I aim to lead with love and am never done learning. This means with all topics and industries I find of interest. In order to continue to grow, you must accept you will never arrive.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I think in a simple list form is what the people want – right? 😉 Tucson: – Hike in Madera Canyon – Explore Saguaro National Park – Eat and Shop at MSA Annex + Mercado San Agustin – Best vegan burgers I’ve ever had are at Beaut Burger – If it’s February we would rummage through The Gem + Mineral Show all over town – Grab a coffee at Presta – Indulge at El Guero Canelo – Learn + take photos at Biosphere 2 – Road trip to Arcosanti then Sedona, Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon – favs!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my incredibly talented husband, Mark Gabriel Laos. Check out his work @markgabriel + @reelfeel + @multiplediscovery. He’s my biggest supporter, encourager and someone I always bounce ideas off of. I learn so much from him. When I needed additional perspective and advice, he was there. When hardships came, he was there. He is a strong business man and creative that celebrates me as much as challenges me, continually helping me reach my full potential. I’m proud to say we even have healthy competitions. Our partnership and his example has not only made me a better human but a better employee, peer, business women, negotiator, and well-rounded creative. I love you, Gabey! I feel like my entire creative community deserves credit! You can’t succeed without good people and collaborators around you.
