We had the good fortune of connecting with Stacie Lang and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stacie, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I’ve had a graphic saved on my camera roll for the last 5 years with one of my favorite Bob Dylan quotes, “A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between he does what he wants to do.” One of the biggest reasons I started my own business was so that I could truly enjoy the work I was doing. If there has ever been a time in my career where my work felt like a drag, I knew it was time to reevaluate something. Whether that meant growing our team or setting clearer boundaries for myself, I knew if I wasn’t passionate about my work, I couldn’t really call myself my version of a success.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I own a kids clothing brand that focuses on comfort, design, and quality. We pride ourselves in being made in the USA from start to finish, and providing kids pieces that are versatile enough for every occasion. I’m so proud of the community we’ve built around our brand. Such passionate, thoughtful customers who have been with us for years. They mean the world to us and we recognize there’s no way we could do it without them. With their loyalty had to come lots of patience though. In the early days, our biggest obstacle was growing so quickly. (I know, what a great problem to have!) Being completely self-funded and only able to increase the size of our PO’s by 50% each time, our customers were trained to shop by setting alarms on launch days or buying off BST boards. We realized what a frustrating customer experience that was, and it was a really tough spot to be in. Getting through those initial growing pains with our customers was challenging, but it only made us that more appreciative of them for sticking around.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh I actually have a full detailed post about this on my personal blog! 🙂 Check out stacielang.com or the below link for our favorites. http://www.stacielang.com/2018/03/visiting-az-with-kids.html

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This answer is probably a little cheesy, but I’d have to say my husband Geoff. With a stressful new commission-based job of his own, our savings being scarce, and having three kids age 4 and under, I wouldn’t call my idea to start a new business very *good* timing, ha! Even still, he was supportive from day one, and was the first to hop in the car with me and our 6 week old to start shopping fabric and sew houses in LA. Six months after we launched, he decided to help me out full time which I was so grateful for, and the rest is history! I can’t imagine not having him by my side the last 5 years, he makes the best business partner.
