Meet Stacy Burk | Professional Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stacy Burk and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stacy, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
My father told me at a young age to not live for money, but live where you are happiest. In other words, don’t move somewhere just for the money, but find the place you want to live that excites you and makes you want to get up in the mornings and go to work. That way you have something to work for. Because if you move somewhere just for the money, then you have nothing to look forward to but just the money. Even if the pay is not good where you want to live, just take whatever you can at first even if it seems impossible. That way you have something to work for… that drives you. A healthy environment that makes you want to get outside and enjoy, is very important for quality of life. I didn’t figure this out till I was 29 years old. Before that, I was too afraid to take the necessary risks because it looked impossible to live where I wanted. But I realized, it took faith in God in order to take a step out of my comfort zone. I figured He put it in my heart for a reason, so I needed to take action and quit living in regret. I learned that the second step would not have materialized if I hadn’t taken the first step. You don’t know what doors are going to open unless you’re there knocking.
When I moved to a place just for the money, I was never happy. But since I quit that and moved to where I love to live in the beautiful mountains in the Great American West… I’ve been happy ever since. Has it been hard at times? Absolutely! But that’s what challenged me to grow, become better and the man I am today.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Raised on a ranch in Texas, I grew up knowing dedication and hard work. After earning my degree in college, I moved to Nashville, TN. I fell in love with photography when I was a Country Music Artist there by working with the best photographers for my promotional material. Learning from the same professionals that captured celebrities, I became inspired and learned I had a unique eye for it also. So I blended together the things I loved most, the Great American West and my new found talent in Portraiture. Over the past decade, I’m grateful to have become known across the country with couples and models coming from far and wide seeking my portraiture.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Sedona is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Will around 4 million tourists a year, few actually really get out and experience the real Sedona. You see, in order to see Sedona, you have to discover it. The only way to do that is by getting outdoors and hiking. There are more hiking trails out of this town than any other town in North America. There are secret places that are absolutely jaw dropping that few have ever seen. That’s where Nitzia and I go on our time off. We even include our couples photography shoots in some of these amazing places, and they love it!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m so grateful to be on this journey with my wife Nitzia. She’s from Central America and is one of the most passionate and kindest ladies you will ever meet. She’s a choreographer and a dancer. So she incorporates her natural talents and charisma into helping our clients pose for our photo shoots. She is gifted in being able to inspire them into poses they wouldn’t have gotten otherwise. She’s also become a talented photographer over the years because we work together on all our shoots.
