Hi Shawnti, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?

You never, ever give up! That’s not an option when you are determined to reach your goals! It’s okay to pause, regroup, take a break, but don’t ever quit! There’s someone out there who needs what you have to offer.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Hello. I’m Shawnti, of Shawnti Refuge Journals. I make journaling easy! I create self-help guided journals that helps you to help yourself heal emotionally , mentally,  physically , & financially. 

I began creating journals after I was diagnosed with Severe Depression & Anxiety, and my therapist encouraged me to start journaling to help deal with the issues that I had buried and forgotten about that had started to resurface.

Since guided journaling helped me, I had to bring mental health awareness to the forefront and encourage others to begin their healing process through guided journaling.

It wasn’t easy for me to get started because I was terrified at the thought of revealing my mental state to the world & being judged or not taken seriously because of it.

I eventually put my fear & pride aside because it was no longer about me; it became being about the great number of people who need help but don’t due to either in affordability, in denial about their issues, or not wanting to seek professional help to begin their healing process.

The lessons I have learned is that there are more people out there that I realize who prefer self-help & need what I have to offer through guided journaling.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My BFF and I are going to MoCity Sports Grill on Wednesday for the “wangs”, drinks, and overall great atmosphere. Any other day we’d go shopping at Katy Mills Mall. That’s great exercise for our bodies and our wallets!

We can’t miss the beach! We’ll go to Surfside beach and play in the sand and water! Since we discovered Surfside Beach, we don’t go to Galveston beaches anymore.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely! My shoutout is dedicated to my wife, Angela; it was she who encouraged me to get the help that I needed when I was unknowingly going through a mental breakdown. She’s been with me every step of the way and continues to offer encouragement as I branch out to help others like myself.
