We had the good fortune of connecting with Stan CLMG and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stan, what do you attribute your success to?
Belief and Consistency. The road for the entrepreneur is unpaved and lives in the uncomfortable zone. There were times when we first started doing radio where no sponsors or advertisers were coming in and the budget was in the red! Those are the times you have to dig deep and believe that what you’re doing is going to eventually work. Consistency plays an important part also, the will to work every day, sacrifice time, relationships and more. I believe success is hand built, you have to get out there and put in the work.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a radio personality for 1057 The Box Radio and Creator of the Fresh Zone TV Brand. I was making music living in a 1 bedroom apt in Birmingham, AL and I got approached by a radio program director to work in radio because he loved my voice, but I ended up working on the promotion team for about 2 years waiting for an on-air opportunity. After a successful pilot episode I finally got a chance to become a full time personality and producer at 1057 The Box Radio. This summer we will be celebrating our 8 year Anniversary.
We started Fresh Zone in 2017 on the Friday night radio show and we birthed the YouTube Series in 2020.
The road was tough but I appreciate the journey. Of course there were times I wanted to give up, money was low, mentally tired and even had depressed moments but I just kept believing! There is no secret manual to success, there are blueprints you can follow but the only thing i did different is I just kept believing and wouldn’t give up!
The Fresh Zone TV brand represents for the dreamers, the underdogs, even when I’m making music I’m doing it for the dreamers and the ones fighting everyday to get closer to achieving that dream!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well first they have to come see the in-home studio to see where all the magic happens! Then they have to try a slice of pizza from the award winning Chariot Pizza and Hub. They also have to try the tamales from El Herradero Carniceria y Panaderia! Since we in Tucson we can take a stroll down 4th Avenue on a Friday night, Mr. Heads Art Gallery and Bar is a nice weekend vibe.
Saturday morning we can ride the trail through Sabino Canyon.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This is definitely a team effort! I have to thank Radio Program Director Arianna Gomes, Executive Producer Brittani Entriquez, my brothers DJ Blackice and Sam Lawrence. DJ Youngboii for believing and showing a crazy work ethic. Kenny for keeping a new business idea and always showing support, Marlon, Adam, so many I don’t wanna forget anyone!
