We had the good fortune of connecting with Steffan Stewart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Steffan, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
Branding is so much more than just a logo, fonts, and colors. It’s the lasting impression your business leaves behind – the experience it provides your clients, good or bad. It’s what they think of when they hear your name, when they read your content, or when they interact with anything that appeals to their senses. Branding, when done right, can do so much more than a good logo. It creates culture. It drives conversation. It inspires employees and clients alike. It differentiates you. It helps with all these things and more. When we take on any branding project, these elements are at the front of our minds. Effective branding has the power to change the world.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Bridge is a small branding & creative studio here in Phoenix, AZ. Colton and I started the company to help our clients bridge the gap between their business and the experience/communication/lasting impression their customers feel upon engagement. Just this year alone we’ve won 14 awards for the work we’ve done, including one of our brands being shortlisted for the best international branding work at the Indigo International Design Awards, out of thousands of submissions. We’ve also had 2 of our logos selected for the 12th edition of LogoLounge, a semi-annual publication of the best logos in the world. While I don’t mean to brag, being our first year of submitting work to award showcases of any kind, this is super exciting for us and I’m extremely proud of our team! While we’re a small team, we bring our award-winning experience and the very same world class strategy/execution that you’ll get with larger agencies, much more affordably and with stronger communication and deadline execution. We fully believe in the idea that good design isn’t subjective; with every project we take on, we do our due diligence in researching, asking the right questions, and hitting every metric. Our approach is Objective Design – building it right vs simply designing it the way it’s requested. I believe this is what makes us stand out from the competition. We’ve had our fair share of challenges as every business does, as running a small business is never without its hardships. COVID-19 had a significant impact on our clients which made things a little dicey for a bit, but we kept our heads down and pushed forward, leveraging our friends and good relationships we’ve built to keep opportunities coming through the door. At the end of the day, the company you keep is everything, and so long as you maintain good relationships and keep pushing forward (ignoring the noise), you can accomplish anything! We’d like the world, especially small businesses to know that while great design and branding isn’t cheap, there are options out there other than the online “design shops” that deliver quick but more often than not detrimental results. One of the primary reasons we started Bridge was to build great work for great people, so as long as you have a story to tell and a passion for what you do, we’re here to provide you the support you need!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oooooh boy this is a tough one. I’m personally into more intimate settings vs loud, overly populated spots, not to mention I’m a Downtown Phoenix brat, so that’s where I’d most likely start! My personal favorite restaurant is Cibo – they have some of the most amazing food and their Nutella shakes are incredible. Whether it’s lunch or dinner, Cibo is an absolute MUST. I love hiking and would have to convince this friend to hit Camelback Mountain in the afternoon. Cobra Arcade is pretty amazing as well (so long as there aren’t too many people) so I’d add that to the itinerary, if not we would have to venture out a bit to a Dave and Busters. Valley Bar has always been near and dear to my heart, so we would absolutely have to stop by there at some point as well! I think that’s enough of a list to occupy a day!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my Shoutout to my partner, Colton Barry. Starting and running a business is hard work, especially during a pandemic, and this guy has been by my side from the beginning and through thick and thin. I couldn’t ask for a better and more trustworthy partner, and Bridge wouldn’t be what it is today without him.
