We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Several years ago i had rescued a very emaciated English Mastiff. I feel in love with the breed. Shortly after he passed away i fostered then adopted a pair of great danes. I saw the obstacles that owners and shelters faced with finding homes for the giants and i wanted to help. There are limited resources for the large and giant breed dogs and many of them never make it out of the shelters. My co founder and I wanted to make a difference so we decided to start our own rescue and The Big Mutt Network Inc was born!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Big Mutt Network is a registered non-profit dog rescue with the state of Arizona and a 501(c)3 charity We are a 501c3 Non-Profit foster based Giant Breed Rescue, ran solely by Volunteers. Our goal is to rescue, rehabilitate and find loving homes for the gentle giants.
Based in Arizona, our mission is to provide care, comfort and compassion to Giant Breed Dogs in need while engaging and educating the hearts, hands and minds of our community to help bring about an end to homelessness and the needless suffering of these gentle giants!
In just 2 short years we have been able to rescue over 1500 dogs. Not only have we been able to take in the dogs but we have also been able to implement several programs.
The Nolan Beckman Memorial fund – which assists the senior community with in home euthanasia and cremation of their beloved pets!
The Buddy Fund – A program to assist low income families with emergency Vet care
No Mutts Left Behind – Every quarter we choose a struggling rural shelter find out what their needs are and help provide some of those needs.
and we are currently working on a program we hope to launch in 2022 called “Change 4 Change” an educational program that we are hoping to bring to elementary schools by next fall.
Anything worth doing is never easy but it has come naturally. I wont lie there are days when we want to give up but then your reminded by the smile on a shelter dogs face when he reaches his new home and suddenly its all worth it.
There’s been a lot of trial and error but I think the most important thing i’ve learned is you have to take time for yourself. Even if its just a few minute everyday. The work we do is demanding so in order to keep our focus we have too rest our minds.
I think our rescue story is much more important than the world knowing me. I hope that the world sees the good work we do and in inspired to get involved, be it with us or another rescue/shelter. Maybe even start their own rescue. You can never have to much help!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would really like to dedicate this to our amazing volunteers (fosters, coordinators, transporters) who work countless hours aiding us in our rescue efforts as well as those who support us financially. There are so many i would love to give credit to but I would have never been able to get started with out the help and encouragement of my co founder Jiani Hawks.
