Meet Tanner Allen | Owner & Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanner Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tanner, what principle do you value most?
Journey Training is unique in that we don’t have a “type” of client that we predominantly train. Journey values each and every client that walks through our doors. We meet each client right where they’re at, regardless of fitness level. We value work ethic, communication, and integrity. It’s takes no skill to work hard, communicating thoroughly helps both clients and coaches see progress and grow, and having integrity creates strong relationships built on trust and long term success.
What should our readers know about your business?
Journey Training is a holistic gym that focuses on long term health and wellness. We are family friendly “tribe” of eclectic people from all walks of life and cultures. We offer group training, personal training, athletic performance training, nutritional counseling, and physical therapy. I am most proud of the amazing people that have joined our Tribe and become lifelong friends. We truly have built an amazing community that looks after each other, especially when life gets tough. During this Covid season, it has never been more clear that the people at Journey deeply care to see this gym survive and come out stronger than before. As a coach who’s been in the industry for a decade, I can say with confidence that this business is all about people. It’s about taking care of not only people’s physical health, but their emotional and mental health as well. Our Journey team does excellent work in knowing our clientele and providing services and treatment specific to each client’s needs.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a friend had a week in Phoenix, I would take them to downtown Phoenix to see a sports game and get some food downtown. We would also take a bike ride around Tempe Town Lake and Papago (assuming it wasn’t 110 degrees out!) We would eat in downtown Gilbert, and golf at a couple courses here. Lastly, we would go see the Grand Canyon.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Devan Grell was a mentor to me in my fitness Journey. I began renting space from Devan at his gym, where I began building my clientele. Devan was a wealth of knowledge and instrumental in supporting my growth as a coach and business owner. I am extremely thankful for his generosity and desire to see me succeed.
