We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Jensen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, how do you think about risk?
Some of the biggest risks yield the greatest rewards. Achieving your goals and dreams don’t come easy and require you to take big risks to reach them. Don’t let the word “risk” scare you. I have a strong belief that failure is just as important as success. If you win, you’ll be happy. If you lose, you’ll have that much more wisdom.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I hand paint my bath bomb designs and spend an extreme amount of time to give them intricate details. Some of my creations look like food or desserts, which is untraditional from what customers would normally expect from a bath bomb. “Over the top” is the look I aim for, which is not always easy to achieve but it is my staple. The more complicated the design, the more eager I am to nail it. I cannot even begin to explain the amount of failed bath bombs I have created to morph myself into the bath bomb guru I am today. I learned there are so many factors that go into a perfect bath bomb; drying time & air flow, humidity, mold materials, and the list goes on. The only way to overcome these challenges was with trial and error. I had to fail 10 times to succeed with 1 particular bath bomb design. I would spend 8-10 hours working on a design only for it to be tossed into the trash. I learned to stay patient and DON’T GIVE UP. You will never succeed or learn if you give up. Everyday is a learning experience and it is necessary for consistent growth. I grew up loving arts and crafts, but never tried making a bath bomb until I launched my company. It is easy to look at something and think you can DIY, it is another thing to actually make it worth selling.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
The most intoxicating places are outdoors. You can go anywhere these days and find a good pizza joint, but it is the beauty of the environment that I find most appealing. We love camping, especially at the “End of the World”, located near Flagstaff, AZ. You can camp right on the edge and enjoy breathtaking views of Sedona right from your tent. We also enjoy taking our boat out early on Saturday mornings before anyone else is on the water (and before it gets too hot!). Canyon Lake has some of the best scenery in Arizona. When no one else is on the water and the air is still, the canyon creates a phenomenon where the water looks like glass. It is truly a sight to see. Everyone we take out on our boat must try wake surfing at least once. Even if you can’t get up, at least you tried something new! We want to show people the side of Arizona outside of the bustling cities that you can’t see anywhere else.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My entire family has been SO supportive since day one. I can’t thank my sister enough for the continued support and my parents for the ongoing mentorship. My husband has been extremely patient and encouraging. He recognizes that starting my own business required sacrifice and sometimes that meant holding off on a special vacation so I can focus on Desert Bath Company. Not to mention his uncanny ability to give constructive criticism of my designs. He is the best quality assurance partner I could ask for. I cannot go without thanking all my customers and friends who have supported Desert Bath Company. The consistent positive feedback from everyone warms my heart and reminds me daily why I started this journey. A simple thank you will never suffice! Desert Bath Company would not be here without a super supportive team in my corner.
