We had the good fortune of connecting with Todd Middleman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Todd, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When i looked at the local entertainment market i felt strongly that there was a niche waiting to be filled. In order to stand out from the many talented local bands that were currently playing and in a time when Programs like The Voice and American Idol were ruling the airwaves it was clear to me that an interactive band would be a big hit. Tearing down the Fourth wall and allowing the crowd to actively participate in a rock band was something nobody thought even logistically possible up to that point. Frankly, I was pretty sure that most musicians i knew would never even consider the immense undertaking this would be leaving a vast market for anyone bold enough to make the attempt. I knew that if i could put the right team together from musicians to Audio engineers we could really have something special on our hands.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In this divisive time we live in our band feels the only real magic left may be live music. What else can bring a room full of people who have completely different opinions on life together. We have a true love for this expression and have found it our journey to be at the events that mark the most important moments in peoples lives and to make sure that moment is captured and remembered with the greatest joy. It was not easy, it’s been a long road filled with heartache, laughter and lot of music but while cliche it’s safe to say that in business you are going to get knocked down. It’s how you rise that sets you apart. We are continuing to learn the lessons presented to us and to grow as artists while bringing customer service and a sense of appreciation to everything we do. It’s our mission that when you leave one of our events you will be happy, singing and have a swing in your step.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The day would begin with a beautiful Hike at Sunrise Peak in North Scottsdale. Next stop is Dick’s Hideaway on 16th st and Bethany home for some drinks and appetizers. I’m certain we have time for a quick massage at the Joya Spa at the Montelucia before we are off for a quick round of golf at Mountain Shadows World Famous Par 3 Course. After a quick power nap it’s time to head downtown for an evening of Comedy at Stand up Live and then a quick walk across the hall to finish up the night at Copper Blues Rock Pub and Kitchen with one of the valleys top bands.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to J.R.R. Tolkien who said there is some good in this world and it is worth fighting for, Hunter S. Thompson who said A man who procrastinates in his choosing will inevitably have his choice made for him by circumstance. Also, Stan Lee and KISS without who’s inspiration The Instant Classics would not exist.
