We had the good fortune of connecting with Tommy Pascale and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tommy, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
I hope to never have to see my career “end”. I strive to have my hand in many businesses/organizations, both for profit and non-profit. The overarching goal of my career is to impact others positively. That is the goal behind the brand “Edify”. I believe that this can and will end up crossing industry lines into others besides film and media, such as real estate, commerce and fashion. If I can change the life of one person for the better than all of the hard work and struggle is worth it. I would like to establish myself in a position that I am able to produce passive assets that allow me to use my time to spend with my family and helping others while simultaneously putting people in positions in my businesses to be able to succeed for themselves and their families. A quote that sums this up nicely is “If you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life”.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always had a vivid vision and imagination for stories and worlds since I was a child. Since then I have spent countless hours writing, shooting and editing for the betterment of my craft I always strive to give a message of hopefulness and light in my art. Many times this achieved by contrasting it through the lens of heartbreak and pain. I have touched on many topics in my projects including grief, mental illness and suicide. I would say I am most proud of being able to do my best to give a voice to those that may not have one. This journey has certainly not been easy getting to the point where I am today. Part of getting to any destination is obviously a journey of many ups and downs. I’ve learned that growth and progression take time to produce the fruits that we wish to see. It’s so easy in this age of social media to see the fruits of other people either creatively or in business and have the misconception that it happened overnight. What I have found is the exact opposite. Most successful people grind in silence day in and day out without recognition for the sweat and tears they shed daily. Commitment and persistence are the key to achieving your goals in anything. Edify is the result of over a decade of hard work in the dark. It is just the beginning. I know there will be more decades of silent work put in every day. I also know that one day it will pay off. Edify will be more than just a brand. It will be a movement.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Arizona has so many amazing places it would be hard to narrow it down! For food I would take them to a few of my favorite places around town; Chula Seafood in central Phoenix, Humble Bistro and FlowerChild in Scottsdale and Joyride and Barrio in Gilbert. For local experiences I would take them to some of the old town areas around. Scottsdale, Glendale and Gilbert are my personal favorites. I love comic books and I would be sure to stop in to Greg’s in Gilbert and Dreadnaught in Glendale to showoff my favorite spots. If comics aren’t their speed I would take them to Brass Armadillo to hunt for antiques Zia Records for some cool vinyls. or Depending on the season I would take them to a D-backs or Suns game so they could experience our local teams. For a recharge after all of that I would take them to one of my favorite local coffee shops for one of my favorite drinks Press Coffee for a peanut butter shaker or Lola Coffee for a Sunrise (Espresso and Orange Juice). Finally, I would take them out to Black Mountain or Camelback to take in a breathtaking Arizona sunset.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people I could shoutout who have impacted my journey tremendously. Mathew Molyneux, Chloe Cosette, Cheyanne Glazier, Nathan Holt, Alexis Lopez, Chloe Caufield, Stephen Davis, Lisette Perez, Dabney Jackson, Kenny G and Spencer Albright. All of these people have made an impact on my life and contributed to my growth as a man, creative and entrepreneur. I am incredibly thankful for their friendship and mentorship over the time that I have been blessed to know them. They truly make life more vibrant with their presence in it. The other half of my shoutout deserves to go to God. He is my strength, peace and reason for creating. His love and grace has changed my life forever and without it I would not have a direction or purpose in this life.
