We had the good fortune of connecting with Ula Bozek and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ula, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My husband and I started WMP Eyewear in 2011. We realized that there was a big gap in the market, the only affordable sunglasses seemed to be gas station quality (i.e. cheap) and all the trendy styles were overpriced. There was a lack of quality, fashionable styles at an affordable price point. We wanted everyone to have access to great-looking, high-quality sunglasses without breaking the bank!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
WMP Eyewear (also known as WearMe Pro) started in 2011 out of our small Chicago apartment with just a $600 investment. Our goal was to provide an amazing quality product at an unbeatable price which we worked day and night to perfect. This required endless conversations with our manufacturer and lots of time researching what customers would love. The most challenging part was doing it all ourselves. Just like many business owners starting out we had to wear a lot of hats and couldn’t drop the ball in any aspect. I will never forget the day when David  (my husband) returned from visiting his family abroad and we had 400 orders to pack in our apartment – we laid out all the labels that spun from the kitchen to our bedroom and packed until 2 am. That’s when we realized it was time to get an office! We spent another year working on our business in Chicago and then decided to move halfway across the country to Arizona. The transition was a challenge as we no longer had help from family and friends but it also pushed us to build our team. In 2019 we were ranked the ninth fasted growing company in Arizona by Inc. 5000 which is one of our proudest accomplishments. We wouldn’t be where we are right now without our hardworking team. As the business grew we knew we wanted to give back to the local community and a cause we all cared about which led to a partnership with the Arizona Humane Society. Now, each WMP Eyewear purchase helps an animal in need at AHS. We donate to the cause on a quarterly basis and are honored to say that one of our recent supply donations was the biggest Arizona Humane Society has seen in 7 years!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to hike Tom’s Thumb trail (most beautiful views) and then to Culinary Dropout at the Quarter for a cocktail and appetizers!
