Parenting is an incredibly important responsibility and so we wanted to get a conversation going with input from parents in the community. We asked them: what is the most important thing you’ve done as a parent? We’ve highlighted some of the responses below.

I think showing your children drive and determination is essential as a parent. You want them to believe that they can do the things that they want to do. I have a child that has autism and is nonverbal and I have never let him feel limited or treated him like he was at a disadvantage. I believe that when one sense is diminished the others become heightened. He has always been a social butterfly even without speaking. I believe that the most important thing I have done as a parent in terms of impact is showing them my true authentic self by giving my love and support. I lead by example and strive to show my child how to be empathetic and loving toward others. My child is also very creative. Supporting them in all of their artistic endeavors has been rewarding for both of us. The simple act of loving your child goes a long way.
