While it’s inspiring to read high level summaries of success stories, we think it’s just as important to learn about what drove the success and made it possible. We’ve asked some of the brightest folks we know to open up about what they believe was the most important factor behind their success.

Sammi Hampton | Baker and Athlete

Being an athlete and playing sports, tennis in particular, has been the key factor for almost all of my success in life. Tennis has taught me many many life lessons which I have transferred to my cookie business. Adversity: I tore my ACL while I was playing tennis for Arizona State University. Injuries like this make you feel like you should quit, make you think you won’t be able to come back as good as you once were. However, going through that recovery made me realize that if you love something you can’t back down, and that if you work hard enough there is always room for improvement. Read more>>

Amy Chandler | Owner/Operator/Naturopathic Momma

The most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand is not so much a thing but a who. I have two sets of individuals to thank for my business success: 1. My business is family owned and operated and I am only half of two parts which makes my business whole. My mother and full-time business partner did not expect to go all-in on a new business start-up only months after retirement, but when I asked for help, she was quick to offer it up! She is the brute force behind the scenes at Heart 2 Home Health. Read more>>

Alissa Caillet | Tucson Skin Revisionist and Sugaring Expert

Passion, tenacity, perseverance, and always, always get back up when I fall down. Incandescent Skin was born out of a vision to help people revise their skin and learn everything I can possibly get my hands on throughout the process. After working in the corporate world, I went into business for myself and that is far from easy. Building my business from the ground up meant that I had to learn how to be an administrator, sales and marketing expert, research guru, branding expert, extensive computer/application skills, building and maintaining my own websites, implementing search engine optimization, mathematician to analyze my numbers, and delve heavily into science of the skin. Dusty K. M. Wilson | Owner & Host

Character. It’s our character that, we believe, sets us apart. We live in a world where everything seems to be digital. We decided to turn our phones off and go back to having human to human interaction. We have personally customized all of our games since the beginning and love giving out prizes. Our between-round challenges give us the time to keep score manually, as well as interacting with the teams, getting to know their members. Since 2019 we’ve worked exclusively with local venues giving us the flexibility to adapt to the ever-changing needs of our clientele. We believe the intimacy of our games, requiring audience participation shows that we are there for them just as much as they are there for us. Read more>>

Dr. Adnan Saithna, MD | Orthopedic Surgeon Specializing in Arthroscopic and Minimally Invasive Knee & Shoulder Surgery

The most important factor behind my success is the satisfaction I get from seeing my patients recover from orthopedic surgery (or following non-operative treatment). I find it very rewarding when they tell me that they have been able to get back to doing the things they love – whether that means participating in recreational sports, competing at a national/international level, or simply being able to use their joints without pain. The sense of achievement I get from helping people in this way is profound and it has always been the main source of motivation for me to continually strive to be at the leading edge of orthopedic surgery Read more>>

Oleg Bortman | The Brokery – Associate Broker & Co-Founder

There are two major factors that have fueled the success of The Brokery and reinforced our identity within the community. The first is our company’s relentless focus on being the residential real estate experts in the neighborhoods our agents specialize in. Our motto is “Relentlessly Local” because our agents choose to work in the local communities where they live and play. This sets us apart from the rest, because we are not trying to be everything to everyone everywhere. We have a deep understanding of so much more than just the number of homes sold in the neighborhood and how much they sold for. We help buyers understand the “local” nuances, like which streets are busiest, where people go to eat and shop, what time the neighborhood starts to unwind and settle down in the evening, which schools are the best, etc. We sell more than just a home. We sell the lifestyle that comes from living in a particular community. Read more>>

This isn’t just a business to us so it is important that we make sure that all of our clients get the proper attention, knowledge about our services, and results. Read more>>
