We had the good fortune of connecting with Oleg Bortman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Oleg, what do you attribute your success to?
There are two major factors that have fueled the success of The Brokery and reinforced our identity within the community. The first is our company’s relentless focus on being the residential real estate experts in the neighborhoods our agents specialize in. Our motto is “Relentlessly Local” because our agents choose to work in the local communities where they live and play. This sets us apart from the rest, because we are not trying to be everything to everyone everywhere. We have a deep understanding of so much more than just the number of homes sold in the neighborhood and how much they sold for. We help buyers understand the “local” nuances, like which streets are busiest, where people go to eat and shop, what time the neighborhood starts to unwind and settle down in the evening, which schools are the best, etc. We sell more than just a home. We sell the lifestyle that comes from living in a particular community.
The other important factor behind The Brokery’s success is that our business model is rooted in encouraging the growth and success of our individual team members on a daily basis. We are big believers in coaching groups, mentorships, continuing education, and maintaining a collaborative space that allows everyone to have a place to go, or a trusted colleague to call with questions. Many real estate brokerages do not offer training or coaching, leaving agents to fend for themselves and navigate a complex, dynamic industry all on their own. There is a great deal of complexity involved in real estate, and we ensure that The Brokery provides the support, resources, and framework to help our team members manage all the moving parts of a real estate transaction, bring all parties together, and negotiate the terms to reach the finish line. We help our agents build the skills and confidence to move through a transaction with ease. We believe in supporting one another, and that directly translates to providing the best possible service to the clients we serve — ultimately strengthening our reputation in the community and naturally increasing our success along the way.
What should our readers know about your business?
In our humble beginning, we sold roughly $2 million in residential real estate. Fast forward ten years and our company sold just under $200 million in 2020. We now have three offices in Arcadia, the Biltmore, and North Central Phoenix, and continue to grow invest in our team and grow our business.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The Arcadia, Biltmore, and North Central Phoenix Neighborhoods are filled with incredible places to dine, shop, and play. We are fortunate to have our offices located near so many great restaurants – from Renata’s Hearth at the Arizona Biltmore to Ingo’s Tasty Food and La Grande Orange in Arcadia, to the 7th Street Corridor…the options are endless!
