What makes you happy? Why?

We regularly ask our interviewees what makes them happy because at the end of the day, what else really matters? We’ve highlighted some of the responses below.

Allowing people (clients) to look back at memories through photographs in the moment or years later is what makes me happy. As cliche as it may sound, experiencing loss at a young age nudged me to really focus on capturing those memories with my loved ones on a personal level, which later transpired into me capturing other people’s memories. Living every second of my free time travelling and exploring new parts of the world. Knowing people from different culture, tasting their foods, hearing their stories and cultures. I love also al the different shapes of Nature and the beauty of the wild environment. Last but not least I am a very big fan of cinema and movies especially from the 80-90s and I always make my travels shaping them as a movie and exploring the film location. Being able to fulfill my purpose makes me happy. I love being as artist and so making music and teaching is a part of my purpose that I am blessed to have. To be able to inspire myself and others with my talents and skills gives me the energy to love what I do. I am at my happiest points in life when I am creating, learning, writing, rapping and educating. Working on my craft everyday brings me joy and I am thankful that I get to create music, teach students and push the culture forward as a music artist and educator. Read more>>

To me happiness is the ability to stay powerfully present. Life doesn’t happen in the past or the future, life only happens now. When we focus in the now we are centered and powerful. There’s a recipe for happiness, and everyone has their own unique recipe. My recipe includes creativity, faith, healing, health, intention, learning and presence. Each day calls for a new recipe, most days I usually have more of one ingredient than another or am missing one or more ingredients altogether. No recipe is the exact same each time, but the days when I include every ingredient are always my happiest. Read more>>

The main driving force behind me striving to retire early (and doing so at age 30 in 2020) was my loved ones. I have limited time on this Earth and so do they. I wanted to spend as much time with the people I love as possible – present time where I’m not always thinking about work in the back of my mind. Since retiring I’ve spent more time with the people I love just in those 2 years than I have in the previous 30 years combined. Read more>>
