I chose to pursue an artistic career because I know the impact that my art can have on an individual that doesn’t create. Seeing the reaction on a clients face when they see something that I made for them is what keeps me consistent. I remember always either getting in trouble or getting praised for doodling in class. Whether it was just drawing a band logo for a friend, or making little comics about absurd situations from school, I’ve always just enjoyed making things. When I hit Senior year of High School and college was something I wanted to pursue, I was lucky/cursed that I lived about 3 minute walk from the now defunct Southwest University of Visual Arts. I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else. I tried different things after I graduated college and had a corporate job for several years but I would basically work another full-time job in the arts after my day job. Nothing has ever been as fulfilling to me as entertaining and making people smile/laugh. So, I told myself one day that I much rather be freelance in the arts and live paycheck to paycheck than be working a full-time 9-5 that I wasn’t passionate about. Read more>>
